This is one of my favorite films in the past 50 years. It's fantastic. No one has ever heard of it but I watch it every year and have wondered why it's such a sleeper. LOVE this film.
I am so with you, I've seen it , IDK, 15-20 times, get something out of it every time, LMAO EVERY time, appreciate Curtis Hanson, Rudin, Chabon, Clovis, & Toby who I'm usually not enthralled with, one of M.D.'s very best (along w/ The Game), all of the supporting actors, Downey is a scream; i could extol the virtues of this film for hours, apparently like a few others here & as evidenced by the very few likes, it's a sleeper aka a closet classic; no pun intended, IMNSHO
Wonderful movie. Something about it is so relaxing and calming. And when it's over, you want to spend more time with the characters, and sometimes end up watching it twice in a row.
I live in Pittsburgh and love this film...so much so that I've visited most of the filming locations several times. Most of them still exist today including Grady's home and his ex-wife's home located in Beaver county. I love taking fans of the film out there to see their reactions.
One of my favorite films. One of my favorite books. The film didn't do well, because it's quirky, it moves along nicely, but there are no major dramatic moments. No one chews the scenery. It's about heady things. There's no tragedy. It's funny, but there are no crotch shots or stupid jokes. It's smart. It makes no attempts to be big or wildly cinematic. It's largely plotless. It's about the characters, but the characters aren't necessarily moving towards anything hugely dramatic. The dialogue is sharp, but often subtle. In other words, it's my kind of movie!
I’m just wondering as I couldn’t quite figure it out at the end of the movie, does Terry (Robert downy junior) move to New York with James Leer and publish his book? Or does James go to New York by himself?
This became one of my favourite films when I first saw it in 2000, and it still is to this day. I'm really happy Mr. Douglas considers it one of his best too, and I think it says something that when he receives a script, he doesn't read just his part, he reads the whole thing and decides if it's a good movie, not just a good part.
One of my all time favorite films. I've seen it over twenty times. I own it and when I need a place to feel at home I watch it. So wonderful. The writer of the book, Michael Chabon, is also one of my favorite authors penning great fiction, non-fiction and finally working on Star Trek Discovery which, after reading his memoir 'Manhood for Amateurs' is especially sweet for him. Thank you Michael Douglas - 'Professor Tripp'. I tell everyone to watch it.
Until I saw Wonder Boys I never liked Michael Douglas as an actor very much, but after that, I realised he was a Wonder Actor, and really thought he deserved an Oscar.
I forgot about Dylan cut, fantastic ! And Frances McDormand, the guy who played "Vernon", so many aspects; i also have this weird connection to Pittsburgh, though I've never been there, it's a long complex story. What a film !! I really appreciate you fellow aficionados !!!
Such a fabulous film. It's too intelligent a movie for the regular viewing public. It requires you to think. There are no special effects, it's character-lead and asks you to question life. Lost on most people.
Amazing to see the mind Mike has. Karl Malden real Czec name All the stuff he's done through the years remembers it like it's nothing at all. Dates correct and more

Couldn’t agree more.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece. One of my favorite films of all-time.

Someone needs to organize an effort to get Wonder Boys released on Bluray. It deserves a Criterion release!
finally on Nov. 24th!
@@ScottThrill THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME! 2020 is officially and completely redeemed!

This is literally my favorite film of all time. Watched it in a theatre when it came out.

Beautifully put. Exactly right.

I had a university literary professor who resembled Michael Douglass’ character perfectly. Thank you Dr Ira Elliott

This movie firmly in my top ten

Love MD ..one of the Greatest
This is amazing and Douglas is fantastic, also in the Kominsky method- kinda similar role - love it
Until I saw Wonder Boys I never liked Michael Douglas as an actor very much, but after that, I realised he was a Wonder Actor, and really thought he deserved an Oscar.
I love this movie. It's on my all time favorites number one!
It is so clever just brilliant
Times have changed😍

Curtis Hanson is so great - he doesn’t get his due
Zero thumbs down.
This and the movie 'Nine Lives' are the two movies someone has to like to 'connect' with me.
1st question in the Wonder Boys Q&A is about Streets of San Francisco. 2nd question is about Kominksy Method. LoL come on, ppl.
Such a fabulous film.
It's too intelligent a movie for the regular viewing public.
It requires you to think.
There are no special effects, it's character-lead and asks you to question life.
Lost on most people.
This movie it's wonderful it's amazing it's my life, I am an atheist as well I speak 5 languages french Spanish English Portuguese criollo ❤
Amazing to see the mind Mike has.
Karl Malden real Czec name
All the stuff he's done through the years remembers it like it's nothing at all.
Dates correct and more
When you watch the Wonderboys you realize there is a reason Michael Douglas character is named Tripp and Katie Holmes character Green and so on.
Por favor coloquem legenda
I remember all the leads, sans RDJ & the director on Charlie Rose.
Omg he spoiled Endgame when talking about RDJ
The characters one who was given the fur coat allegedly once owned by MM and the other, her boyfriend, were annoying. They added nothing to the plot.
