Yesterday evening I tasted my very first Château Maillet. It was a 2019 vintage, the only bottle that I found here in Brazil. The wine was fantastic! Pure elegance and pleasure… Thank you very much for your video! 😃👏🍷
Your excitement was so genuine I ordered 2 bottles online in the middle of your video, hope this is the diamond in the rough we are all looking for, thanks for the video
sungwon: wow...I hope I didn't steer you the wrong way! I just had another bottle and does need aeration if you are going to drink it right away. But the quality is definitely there. Cheers!
Great video and good to see you feature an under-the-radar wine. I thought it interesting that you downgraded the score given its low price. If it were up to me, I think I would have given it an extra point just given how over-performing it is. Looking forward to tasting it myself! Thanks!
noahcap: as I said to another subscriber, I was kinda doubting myself a bit, like could it really be that good. I have tasted it again recently and think my score is correct. Probably was so enthusiastic as hard to find a decent Pomerol wine under $100. Cheers!
Master of wine David Allen of wine-searcher wrote that Merlot based wines really benefit from a small percentage of Cabernet Franc for more elegance and perfume.
llurispuir: partly, I had a hard time wrapping my head around that it was that good. Could it be true? I just drank it again out of the bottle and it was really tight so I think does need extended aeration. So I think I am correct that the current rating is 93 but may get to 95 in 5-7 years. Cheers!
Just took delivery of my ‘19 bottles! I went a little overboard and got 2 cases based on your review 😂. Are these good to age for extensive periods (5-10+ years)?
@@corylee7832 haven't had the 2019 but I think this is a steal under CAD$100. Quality is magnificent. If you wait 5-7 years, you will have a gem. Cheers!

corylee: yes I believe they could probably age 15+ years although 2019 may be a bit softer year so approachable earlier. Cheers!
Pomerol Chateau Maillet has been on a Roll since 2015 vintage definitley underrated...i think it is also close to a 95pt wine.....
robert: yes you are correct Cheers!
@@TrophyWineHunter A under the radar wine is the Right Bank Chateau Laroque it has the scores the price and the flavors...
@@robertfenti3996 thx for the tip!
bought the 2019 vintage @us$53 after tax.
great! I just had it again last night but it does need extended aeration if you are drinking it now. Cheers!
@@TrophyWineHunter thanks for the tip. I'd like to drink a good Bordeaux red after 5-7 yrs minimum in the bottle. Cheers!
@@williamhuang2976 smart! That should be the drinking window for this wine
Is the ‘19 as good as the ‘18? Saw that it was rated a point lower
