I’m trying to pin a blue weevil and I can’t for the life of me get the pin through the elytra!! I got some beetles for Christmas and I’m wondering if i need to spread the elytra to pin this one, which I don’t want to do :/ I rehydrated it yesterday and couldn’t pin through then either… all the other insects were fine… any tips ?
What if i want to pin a beetle with the wings open. Where would i put the pin at if i cant put it through the wing? Is it still the same spot although it would be a soft body abdomen or would you pin through the thorax instead?
I’m buying a longhorn beetle so this helped a lot! Thank you :)
just found a buttercup oil beetle to pin thank you so much helped a lot
Thanks! I have the same click beetle that was in the thumbnail that's been waiting for me
I found the same type of click beetle the other day. The first one ive ever seen. Its currently in a hydration chamber.
Same!

When someone asks me why I pin the beetle in the right upper wing, what do I tell them?
Good question hahaha. I'm honestly not quit sure why, it's just the standard..I never looked up why.

I would still pin it through the same spot. Shouldn't be any problem doing that
