    Oh man I hope he finds that bond owner. The owner may give this storage buyer a million of it. I think that would be happy ending. Some would be jealous and keep them hidden being bitter. This is a good guy. You can tell. Wouldn't hurt anyways for him to get reward. Gosh, hr bought fair in square after all.

    does that not mean he is now the legal owner of those bonds.

  • @michaelwerbick

    It's not unusual. I do the same and found a trunk of a military uniforms and medals including Purple Heart....sent them back to a cousin of the decent. They belong in the family. Figured it was my best unit ever around $20k worth of goods. But you are contracted by bidding to give personals back sooo....where is the line.

    • @lisamartin3734
      @lisamartin3734 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So this guy knows he is contracted to give personal belongings back and here he is on TV acting like the good samaritan and giving the personal things back which he is obligated to do so anyway. WOW, he is good. I would try to find the family and give the personal things back because that is a part of their family history that can't be replaced. Even if I wasn't contracted to do so.

    Honestly, if it had such sentimental value, why was it left in a storage locker? Take what you can get, and sell it. The other family didn't miss it then, they won't miss it now. But now you have been on TV talking about the value, I bet a lot of families come forward to claim "strange Uncle Bob's" property.

    Bonds and certificates may appear to be a fortune. Are they of real value?. since 1927 many firms have failed. Also mergers, acquisitions, sell offs, delisting, bankruptcies, receiverships... ect. Stocks, bonds and/or called in and if not redeemed within a specific time become dead. ie.. I have one such stock. (300 shares). impossible to sell or write off. Trade halted to due to executive embezzlement and value eventually went to zero. ie.. my dad bought stocks in the 50-60's, some mining stock, we did a search and could not find an active company. Thusly Buyer's bargain. :-).. there are some vintage stocks of value it will take an investigative effort.

Bought as is where is sight unseen all contents belong to the buyer. He needs a Federal Judge's order and of course the IRS will take their part as earned income. 40% tip the IRS.

      Nope, don't think so. They aren't bearer bonds. Technically, they would escheat tot he State, who would undertake an effort to find the owner.
      Looks like something shady was going on with the owner of the bonds. Was the owner murdered? Were they purchased with dirty money? Who the heck knows. All I can say is that after the broadcast, the Feds began an investigation.

    Still looking for the owner of some of those myself . Not worth millions but several thousand . Also found old stock certificates that were worth 3500 and 1500 in the late 1930s wish I could have cashed those in but they are not worth anything now . Maybe in the early 1980s they were still good and worth a fortune

    ohh its the right thing to do because when i went to the bank to find out if i could get any money, they asked for my id and i told them this isn't my shit. They then laugh me out of the bank. So now i'm hoping i could find the rightful owner and maybe strike a deal with him to get some money.. LOL SUCKAAAA!!

    Here is what I would have done. Once I found out I could not cash them, I would found a guy with that name, not the real one but another one with that name. Then I would have had a lawyer draw up a legal document so that I get 50 percent of the take. The other option would of been to maybe change your first and last name to that name, then wait a year.. then cash em in one at a time?
