      Gent's Lounge I’m a men’s Tailor/Designer. I make suits & waistcoats, so I’d like to think I have my own jam.

Casual. Simple oversized t shirt tucked into jeans. Redwing iron rangers or shirt tucked out with jeans/chinos and dessert boots (RIP Anthony Bourdain)
Formal. Simple color blocking with bolder pocket square. Always tapered trousers and tailored jacket.

I live in a tropical country, where it's summer all year, so I don't have many options when it comes to clothing. I usually keep it simple with slim fit oxford shirt with dark wash denim and boots/loafers, or if I want to dress it up a little bit, I wear my shirt tucked in with chinos & loafers or laceups / monkstraps.

Button-up long sleeve shirt paired with well-fitted black pants or raw denim, Chelsea boots or gray timbs, and a bomber jacket 😎👌🏾

Nearly there! Been a year in my journey. So far my style consists of, Denim jacket, flannel(or black t), black jeans and steel cap boots (or black sneakers). I'm still exploring and trying out new things, it's a new hobby I suppose :)

I think personal style is a lifetime journey, it's not something like you guys mentioned, something that can be done over-night.
As a younger guy, I was into hip hop and rock, which led me to wearing some baggy clothes and sport a certain hair cut along with it. Being a heavier guy, baggy clothes seemed heaven sent. Until my early 20s, I never though twice about my style because it was still the "in" fashion and being in school, I never had to really worry about it. Within my group of people, I was the guy with the faux-mohawk and a billion T-shirts. That changed when I started to meet people out of my comfort zone. Yes, I was still that easy-going but somewhat interested in fashion guy, but I needed to change what I wanted to get across through my clothes.
Being a healthcare professional now, I still wanted to maintain that easy going vibe, to be more approachable. However I also realized that I needed to maintain a certain professional demeanor. Before I took more interest in fashion, I guess I thought of clothes as all or nothing; either you are casual or "corporate." It took me a while for me to realize it's not as clear cut as that because firstly, I wasn't interested in looking "corporate" for the longest time and secondly, because people around me weren't interested in formality or didn't have the knowledge to share.
Knowing better now through my own interest and research, I've come to become comfortable with the business to semi-formal to casual styles, as different situations require different attire from me. Regardless of the formality, I guess my personal "style" would be on the more traditional styling, with simple or no patterns in my clothes. My colour palette is within the safe navy/brown/grey range, though I am willing to dabble with red or green as well. My preferred fabric is cotton and fine wool, though I've recently fell back in love with denim. I've been known to avoid new synthetic material like the plague, I just don't like that gloss that most synthetic materials have. Fit for me is an issue because I have always worn baggy clothes and being a heavy guy, it is difficult to find proper fitting clothes (without alteration); I've settled on a more traditional fit for now but I am trying to lose weight so that I can try wearing more snug fits and determine if I like it or not.
Recently, I've been really into band collar shirts and have been looking into my heritage (East Asian) to develop an , and I've found some interesting collar patterns for shirts and jackets. It's been difficult finding information and inspirations for my personal endeavor, but I'm sure I will be able to work out something.
Anyway it has been a mouthful, thank you if you've read this to the end and always thank you to GL for the wonderful content and myriad of information and questions to ponder on. If anyone from GL is reading this, I would like to ask if you guys have any tips for styling band collars with suits or Nehru/mandarin style jackets with the more traditional Western outfit. Thanks again!

My personal style I call, "Italian Bohemian" because I like Italian quality and hand craftsmanship, and I wear it with Spezzatura!
    Ensembles like:
tassel loafers worn with double breasted blazers over open collar and sporting a little neck jewlery.

I would say build up your wardrobe with the basic must have, classic, never out of fashion, timeless pieces of clothing that every man or woman should have. Your going to need them to form a good style. Women or Men take note of those things when dating. It makes a great impression to be well put together.
Also have some casual wear, semi casual, Business, suits, tux and even lounge wear/sleeping attire. Dress for the occasion. Theres a fine line, don’t over do it or under do it.

@@gentslounge Absolutely. The first thing I take in consideration when buying pants or jeans is, can I wear them without a belt... Lol. For someone who has worn a belt his entire life it does take some getting use to. I would say a large percent of guys are not wearing their property size. It gives the tailored look a much cleaner silhouette. Great Channel! I have learned a lot from you guys.

    • @ferkco

Suspenders my good man suspenders or a tailor or both. Theirs a reason for my madness at least, as in not wearing a belt but suspenders with suits. Belts break up the silhouette making one smaller in height and heavier in weight. Plus suspenders really are good at pulling up all pants thereby causing ladies to smack your butt. I like to be appreciated. Something like that. I shouldn't be sharing my secrets with others. Peace.

In my opinion a man's personal style should not involve fussing over ones eyebrows, of which the result has potential to appear feminizing. I know because I've made this mistake.

Hey guys. There are a few absolute criteria in life: There's good clothing and there's bad clohing. Healthy-minded people aim towards the best along their lives. We go from wrong to right, and from bad to good as we evolve. Good clothes vary a bit in style, just like bad clothes vary in style too. I watch a lot of your videos, and you're always confused among categories of thought. Quality is one category, style is another category. There's an intersection area between both. Mixing up categories is a sign of an unbalanced mind. Teach yourself good stuff before teaching others what to do. Read good literature. You may be doing harm to yourself and others teaching the wrong things in life. Cheers.
