As a patient myself (Turp surgery 10 days ago) an excellent video. I noticed various techniques when hanging the saline solution on the apparatus. First evening post-op at the hospital one nurse dialled back the flow rate of the irrigation solution, and the pink colour in the tubing quickly became red again. Another nurse spotted this, and cranked it up again and irrigation continued throughout the night. Initially was supposed to be discharged after day 1, but my urologist kept me in there for one more day as a precautionary measure after seeing the tubing. Good thing as it turned out as I had a blockage later that afternoon that needed to be cleared by a syringe, executed to perfection by nurse Sara. After that all was good and able to go home on Day 2 with no catheter in place.
Wow this video is full of useful information. I worked in the ER, never been assigned in the ward so I've never experienced nor have I ever seen one in person. Nice video. That being said, the nurse could use a drink, she sounded like she needed to clear her throat. :)
Do not believe all these is old days incompetents. This is a truth when and how to use male Foley catheter -th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=norik+katsakhyan
She touched her hair after hand hygiene and put gloves on and ten attached leg urinary bag, this really a contamination issue as gloves might be defective and infection can happen, please do review your video in this regard, but patient education and usage of three ports explained really well. I never been given clear details when I was studying nursing. anyway thx for the detailed explanation of urinary catheter. It made my day except the hair touching part. Sorry but I have pointed out in a split second.
Good video except my Elsevier med-surg textbook states that when assessing the color of the urine output, it's more accurate to assess the urine in the tubing as urine in the bag is a collection over time, not necessarily reflecting change in color in real time.
Wow! A female medical professional that actually respected the male patient’s privacy & vulnerability in this situation. This was BEAUTIFUL to witness! #ClassAct
Excellent video. I have observed nurses and CNA's use improper care of catheters and hygiene often. My parents has had 4 CAUTIs in the last month and a half. Proper hygiene is so important, and surely lacking, especially in skilled nursing facilities.
I wish my nurse explained this to me when they discharged me last week. I see in the video there is a "plug" in place on the "irrigation" tube. I don't have one and questioned it and they said it was okay. Fortunately seeing my Urologist tomorrow, to hopefully remove the catheter. But I think this is why I've noticed my urine stinks. Kind of pissed at the hospital, as great as they usually are.
My daddy is 92 and went to the hospital with phumonia and a uti. They "the er staff " i dont know if it was a Dr. Or nurse ...tried to insert a catheter into his urethra and it would not go in. Idk if it was a regular cath or a Foley cath at first but they could not get it in..i wasnt able to go into the er room with him until after all this was over and i wasnt informed of this at all. But i later noticed blood in his underwear. He had a uti and it scared me so when i asked the nurse that was teying to get him to go pee in a handheld urinal why he has blood there she said its where we tried to cath him...no catheter was there yet so i didnt understand..... As of that night he has had no prior treatments or procedures to his urethra ... What I would like to know is why was I not informed of this procedure they were fixing to do on my father 92 years in age. Find the number to why would they go straight to a catheter?? And number three if they could not insert the catheter then why did they continue to push it until he has to wear a catheter for the rest of his life. Please help me understand
A Few Months Ago, I Was in the Hospital for a Seizure, and I Had to Wear a Foley Catheter I Loved My Foley Catheter, Because I Could Pee without Going to the Bathroom Ohh Yeah... My Foley Catheter Felt Comfortable
Great video. I am in holland and my partner just got a catheter bag. It was shocking as he got zero intruction !!!! I kid you not. Also he only has a leg bag, no larger night bag. One question, are americans scared of saying the word penis ? :)
wow im dumb. before this video i imainged that bladder irrigation would mean there would be an open incision exposing the bladder and i would just shoot it with clean water from a little hose lol
Please do not call yourself dumb because you did not know much about bladder irrigation. No one person knows everything. We are constantly learning new things. 🤓
😂 This particular video is a case study of a man who just received surgery to remove part of his prostrate and how to perform a continuos bladder irrigation.
A real professional doesn't look like a hair flipping flirting with a no more than 30 year old man that's born in 1961 that's like 61 years old he looks amazing😂
That make sense.......that make sense..... that make sense.... .... oh men don't repeat the same sentence thousands times!!!! That's annoying It would be better if you show how they put the catheter in!
Her ability to explain is incredible. Well put and very detailed.

Thank you , this video is soo good.. body languege, communication, information ,,
Or in his 20s..lol. I'm just happy of the explanation and communication . The skills and sequencing, asepsis and tech I'll brush it up later. Thanks!
Great explanation for Pt's questions. Thank you.
Never assess color based on the drainage bag.... the color is assessed in the tubing

Awesome demonstration
Thank you for this... This is so informative...
Thank you, great video!
Why would someone need to have this?! I'm just curious!
She washes her hands then she sweeps her hair away from her face with one. She should be wearing a nurse's cap or at least a hair band. Ron W4BIN
I had one on my Willy, it was one of the worst experiences of my life
This will be me on Thursday/ Friday this week.
Wow this is real nursing
excellent video
Periodtttt Megan
Why is the nurse's hair is not tied?
Because she’s not a real nurse. She’s an actress.
I got mine Few weeks ago but they took it off
A Few Months Ago, I Was in the Hospital for a Seizure, and I Had to Wear a Foley Catheter
I Loved My Foley Catheter, Because I Could Pee without Going to the Bathroom

When she was ready to teach him how to change the bags, she left to wash her hands, then came back and touched her hair...……...not sterile anymore!
He's cute.
juliard trained actors...
SHE TOUCHED HER HAIR AFTER WASHING HANDS but before applying gloves....odd
GIVE HER A BREAK. The camera is watching her every move and she made some mistakes.
