Celebrating @#$&!ing COVID's first Birthday La Romana, Dominican Republic

You may know the Dominican resorts in Puerto Plata and Punta Cana, but if you don't know the La Romana area, check it out. The all-inclusive we chose to celebrate the beginning of the end of COVID has everything you expect, but unlike the more isolated and segregated hotel compounds elsewhere in the country, here you can actually walk down the beach to a fishing village, its stores, discos, boats, etc - in short, you get to see something other than sunburned tourists and hotel employees :) It is also much closer to Santo Domingo's colonial zone than the other tourist zones. This cosmopolitan city was founded in 1496 by Columbus' brother. It served as the capital of Spain's first colony in the Americas; it is the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the New World.
