I was waiting for you to mention the copyright date code on the back of box. If I’m correct the legit ones will have 2020 while the fake ones will have 2023 this can be a dead give away when looking at a sealed pair. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I feel like the ONE thing reviewers miss with these videos are recording them from the time they are sealed with the plastic cuz A LOT of fakes out there get ppl with SEALED boxes and there are a few signs ppl need to be aware of inspecting the outside..

True, the headband holes don't work on fakes. There's no point in buying a fake to use as a spare for a genuine one, because on fakes it's non-removable (I was planning to buy fakes to replace the headband, as an original costs $200!).
I got some off of eBay and they have the small wholes and right screws but that’s the only thing that seems right. The buttons are plastic and the volume button doesn’t click when you go up or down and the case is wrong and the paper cup things came on the outside with no paper over the case.
Check to see if you can connect them through “find my devices” Will obviously have to not be connected to them on Bluetooth, best way is to see if it lands on their server, meaning it’s authentic

Right the one I am showing you has metal and holes, some of the older ones were plastic and didn’t have them. They are getting better at the fakes for sure
It’s hard to see what’s real and fake these days. Example of that is eBay and there are tons of fake I mean if you bought them at a full price you wouldn’t sell them at $250 plus shipping and say they’re brand new even the used ones. I tried to make them show the inside of the ear cups to see the screws and that hole that releases the head band. The smart covers are questionable too, it’s sucks that scam these days. I too got fooled with fake AirPods Pro 2 so be careful out there.
Serial numbers are typically tied to “real” or “authentic” AirPods Max devices. Meaning what ever the serial is on your device will appear to be real, but will actually just be someone else’s AirPods Max. Confusing for sure, but it’s why I’m so confused to why apple hasn’t addressed the issues
You forgot to show the optical sensor inside the driver near the middle. You can also compare the pad knit; the fakes got it close, but the cable and crossings are all wrong.
Typically look at the copyright date. It should not be 2023 or 2024: those are fakes. Apple hasn’t changed the original copyright date on the box, even if you bought them today at the apple store

So if you can ping them when you are not connected via Bluetooth (and it basically uses other nearby devices to spy on it) then they are real. I tested this exact thing out with the fakes, basically it only convinces the device connected directly to it. So alternatively if you tried to ping them with another device on your account (extra iPad or iPhone) that haven’t Bluetooth connected with them……. That’s a good test. Because it won’t go through apples network
Great question: so a couple factors in this to make a good conversation. 1. Cost, average fakes are going for 2-350. That means for the money you could basically buy a lot of GOOD headphones and still save money instead of the fakes. Sony WH1000 series is a good example of amazing quality 2. How does it compare to Apple? Or any other capable headphone? Okay, def not worth the cost and they just sound kinda lifeless
Retail? No. I would imagine there is a chance of the item was returned and is being sold as open box there is a possibility. Unlikely but it’s always worth confirming serial numbers match on the box and headphones in IOS

I bought the max, brand new for 350€ on eBay, but it is all good, all criteria are matched. Software update is also fine. A stroke of luck? Maybe, tomorrow I’ll go to the Apple Store to be sure. If it’s “Sealed” the pull tab on the real ones actually opens the plastic, the fake ones are just a sticker and when you pull it just comes off. Also shake it, if it rattles…fake.

They will show up in the app but they don’t really work like a true Apple device, so it will seem like they are in “find my devices” That’s why it’s worth looking at all the factors
@@ryandehamer Nice, the best way to identify the is the iCloud functionality to jump between devices. If you pair it on the iPhone and it jumps to the MacBook without pairing it in the Macbook it is genuine, if not it is just a Bluetooth device

Serial numbers always match no matter fake or real, if they didn’t match it’s a bad fake. But a serial number doesn’t tell you much about if it’s real or not. If there is an Apple store nearby you could always suggest meeting there. But I am happy to help with more questions here too

best way i was able to check is to try and remove the head brace as everything else seems fine. if you can not remove the head brace then is fake.

Yes you should be good if it's got 2020. Stay away from 2023.
