  • In this walk at the Düsseldorf Airport (IATA: DUS) in western Germany I am taking you through the whole departures and arrivals terminals in August 2022. Dusseldorf International Airport is the third largest airport in Germany after Frankfurt and Munich. It is also the most important airport in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2019, over 25 million passengers used the airport, which is connected by 80 airlines to over 230 destinations in 65 countries. Due to travel restrictions resulting from global problems, passenger numbers slumped to 6.6 million in 2020. With revenues of about 400 million euros and earnings of 57 million euros, it was one of the six most profitable airports in Germany in fiscal 2010. It has three passenger terminals and two runways which can handle wide-body aircraft up to the Airbus A380. The new Düsseldorf Airport train station was opened in 2000 where up to 300 trains stop every day. The connection between the terminals and the long-distance train station is provided by the driverless Skytrain monorail. This time in Summer 2022 many people start to travel again after easing of many travel restrictions within Europe. It took more than 2 years to get back to the semi-normal situation that you can see in this video.
This 4K video vlog was recorded with high definition binaural audio in 60FPS.

Next time go to the luggage halls and call owners of lost luggage by phone! Did the same while searching for mine! It was mishandled two times within three weeks! Hell of joy! 😀👍🍀

Sad to say but, DUS is losing relevance rapidly among German airports. The airport seems in a poor shape all in all. It's dirty and full of waste. Infrastructure and facilities such as lifts, stairways and toilets are out of function frequently. Waiting queus are inaccepatbly long and baggage is more likely to get lost than an most other airports.
In addition to that, competition among airports is very strong in the region as a consequence of the neighbourhood of CGN, FRA, AMS and BRU.
Considering all that it is avsolutely no wonder that passengers and airlines as well more and more prefer neighbouring aiports rather DUS.
Since 2022 DUS has fallen behind the new BER aiport and has thus become the number four of German airports in terms of passenger numbers. And I'm convinced that this will last for the foreseeable future. BER is more modern and has way better facilities. Berlin has become a very important tourist destination over the recent years and it is nearly out of competition that to say, there is absolutely no comparable airport to seriously compete with BER in the Berlin region.
