- Even though I haven't put out hiking content in a couple of years, my friend Cameron Hall who started the Texas Backpacking TH-cam Annual Meetup was nice enough to say I was grandfathered in. A big thanks to ChucoHiker for taking the reins and organizing this year's meet. I had a wonderful weekend with familiar faces and the opportunity to meet great new folks as well. We had a great time in the Davis Mountains in southwest Texas and I'm already looking forward to next year. Thanks Chris. It was wonderful getting back on a trail again. Oh man, if I had only slept on that mat, I would still be laying up there. Hahaha. There is so much prickly stuff in those mountains I used that for protection under my air mattress. I'm not that tough anymore. Lol

How did the Northeast Texas trail from New Boston to Reno and had to ride back to Avery to meet my grandpa because he had to come get me because of broken spokes but I meant Gary at Avery at the fire station because I called the number on the door and told him I wanted to meet him because I mentioned your name and your videos I told him I wanted to meet you if he ever talk to you again before I got to this comment section

Looks like a great trip with great people. I need to make it out to the Davis Mnts. That's how big bend looked for me last weekend.
Great video Tony. So happy you were able to make it this year. I especially loved the behind the scenes camera lense cleaning. And the Roy Rogers at the end was great. I hope you can make it again next year.
Hopefully your knees are still doing alright. We'll have to do another short overnight trip to Dinosaur Valley, LBJ Grasslands, or somewhere else close to us soon. ✌️

There is nothing wrong with light camping. You still getting out there and that's what counts. I know at 82 I still can get out there on a trail. I can do more, but 1~5 miles is my sweet spot.
Hey Senior. Yeah it gets a bit tougher to do those miles but as long as we're still out there is what counts. I'm doing some serious limping now but can't wait to do it again. Lol. Atb, Tony ✌

Oh yeah, after a kinda rough summer it was really great getting out there and with some great folks too. Getting back out and doing some hiking wad really good for me although I'll be limping around for a few days. Lol

"Wrong Turn" is a better trail name than mine..."Shredded Feet" from my habit of getting blisters on a couple of trips! LOL!

I know! I just got back on the bike. Starting with MTB because smoother and easier on ribs. Been over 6 weeks. Take care brother!
This was excellent, Tony! I’m saddened that I missed the initiation ceremony. That looked great. I must have been off hem hawing around, as usual. It was great meeting you and I look forward to listening to many more of your wonderful stories and recollections from the trail.

You and Eli were in camp eating and we had to get it done before it was to dark. I wish y'all had been there. It was great.
