  • This is Phalaenopsis Stuartiana, it is a species and has the great feature of having mottled leaves and pretty flowers. Mine is not fragrant but some are supposed to be. Enjoy!

    Just purchased mine on the 'bay'. I am currently collecting a few 'variegated' species- including: Sogo Vivien, five Phalenopsis schilleriana. I really appreciate watching each of the great videos you've made. Very informative and inspirational, as an orchid collector and lover. Thanks, again!

    So pretty! I love how compassionate you are about plants, it would be so difficult for me to cut off such perfect flowers

      :) well this one is easier because it has such pretty foliage as well :) but it's not easy sometimes..

    Hi, it is lovely! It looks like the hybrid Brother Pico Chip. The leaves of mine also go floppy when thirsty. But after watering they regain their freshness. :)

    I didn't know you had one of these!! I just picked up a MONSTER of this guy, and it is like... 50cm tall. So so big. I wish the leaves were a bit more mottled, but it is a beautiful big plant nonetheless!

      I love the white one a lot, I think it emphasizes the spotting more strongly. I love how big and beautiful it is.
      I hope it stays in bloom a long time!!

    That is a native species of phalaenopsis in the philippines like shilleriana.. im pretty sure that is not a hybrid by a breeder but a pure native specie.

    How r u doing? I'm planning to order Phal. stuartina, not hybrid, from Thailand. Is it difficult to grow it? or conditions for hybrid phal be ok for it?

      @MissOrchidGirl  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Altynay B Hi, it's not difficult to grow it just needs what any other Phal needs :) good luck!

    Buna Dana, iar te deranjez 🙃. Tocmai am primit din Malaysia un puiut de Stuartiana. Referitor la umezeala din aer, cat la suta e nevoie pentru a creste? Are cumva in parentaj conexie cu Schilleriana? Sper sa nu fie nevoie de 80% ca daca nu te mai alegi cu o orhidee! 😅😂 mersi mult!

      Buna Ana, provin cam din aceeasi zona si anume Philipine, desi Stuartiana ar creste la 300 m inaltime si schilleriana la 450. Nu stiu daca este vreo diferenta, dar eu am avut un hybrid de schilleriana si a mers ok, nu prea ii placea vara mea intr-adevar dar o mentineam mereu umeda putin si se descurca. Incearca poate ai un exemplar mai viguros :)

    Lovely! Looks a bit thirsty yes...
    You could try foliage watering the plant. Try put bowls of water around the plant and let the leaves soak in water a few hours during the warmest period of the day. Probably not a smart thing to do during night as temperatures drops.
    I saved a phal with absolutely no roots this way. I could actually see the leaves starting to revitalize from this watering technique just a week or so after i've started the treatment.
    Btw i also moved the plant to corner with absolutely no direct sunlight. No roots yet but i think i see something happening at the base of the plant. I hope it's not a flowerspike...

      Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds interesting! at the moment I just shower it every day and yes no direct sunshine for her. She does have some roots so I'm not worried, it's just a bit too much workload at this point, she just finished blooming in august last year and immediately threw these spikes in september.

    What makes the leaves turn yellow? I have 2 phalaenopsis that their leaves are turning yellow. They are not receiving any direct light only filtered light and the roots look healthy. What can it be causing it. Any advise? Thank you

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi MsDaisy, if the leaves that yellow are the bottom ones, it could mean the orchid is just regenerating. Phalaenopsis orchids periodically shed the bottom leaves that are old and produce new ones. If the leaves are on the top you might have a problem with some crown rot. In any case, if the leaves don't have any other spots, are at the bottom of the plant and the roots and overall health is good, it's nothing to worry about and it's pretty normal :) hope this helps!

    • @MsDaisy003
      @MsDaisy003 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      MissOrchidGirl Yes, the yellow leaves are the ones in the bottom only. PHEW!! I thought it was dying. Is it ok to just cut them off or do you suggest I leave them until they fall out on their own? You have very helpful advise. I now have 5 phalaenopis orchids because of you :)

    May be if you combine the green nail color and the nail color that you use in this video, you can come up with mottled nail color :D Btw, love the Stuartiana.

    I found that stuartiana, grow slow, and mount well. Yours looks like the typical species form. Miss orchid girl i am so impressed with your videos and i want to thank you for bringing orchids into public spotlight. I dont know how old you are but im 27 and i feel that there is a huge age gap in orchid growers which may leave future generations of orchid growers behind. I felt so discouraged when my camera recently broke as i was about to time lapse Virginia's native Ladyslipper but now im feeling inspired to save up for a new one so i can capture my Phal. fasciata when it blooms next month.
    here is a plug for my stuartiana video.
