Bruford at The Venue, London, UK May 8, 1979 - REMASTERED BY SOURCECODEX
A GOOD FRIEND IN GERMANY SENT ME THIS SHOW RECENTLY, I THOUGHT IT WAS A BIT THIN SOUNDING AND LACKED SOME PUNCH SO I REMASTERED IT. I ALSO DENOISED SOME OF THE QUIETER SECTIONS.
IT IS ONE OF THE FINEST BRUFORD SHOWS I HAVE EVER HEARD. CRANK IT UP -- ENJOY!
Buy me a cup of coffee:
venmo.com/u/SourceCodeX Thanks!
I AM WELL AWARE THAT THIS SHOW IS ALREADY ON TH-cam BUT SOMEHOW THE AUDIO ON THAT OTHER VIDEO HAS BECOME ?"SQUELCHED"? AND SOUNDS THIN TO MY EARS. PERHAPS THE LIMITING EFFECT WAS DUE TO TH-cam's PROCESSING THE AUDIO UPLOAD. (I HOPE MY UPLOAD SURVIVES THE TH-cam AUDIO PROCESSING ALGORITHMS.)
INFO RE ORIGINAL AUDIO:
Recorded by Martin Westwood (God bless him!) working as FOH (front of house) sound engineer for Bruford on their UK Tour in 1979. It's a completely original recording made using 2 Shure SM58's on stands at the FOH desk. The recording device was a Nakamichi DT550 cassette recorder.
GIG LIST:
1. Hell’s Bells
2. Sample And Hold
3. Fainting In Coils (part 1)
4. Back To The Beginning (guitar solo)
5. Fainting In Coils (part 2)
6. Forever Until Sunday
7. Band Introduction
8. Joe Frazier
9. One Of A Kind
10. Travels With Myself - And Someone Else
11. Beelzebub
12. The Sahara Of Snow
13. Adios A La Pasada (Goodbye To The Past)
Encore: 14. Five G
ALLAN HOLDSWORTH (RIP) - GUITAR

The Sahara Of Snow Part II is killing me. Everytime at every show in every version including UK. And when Annette sings it I get high and higher to another place - out of this world.
True true true.
@@JazzRockFusionSynthesizerMusic Miles wanted his music to be called Social Music. This is Social Music too. And the original lyrics are Social Lyrics too.
Seriously, fantastic to hear any new recordings by these four giants!
I had no idea this album existed! This is like Christmas morning! Can't get enough of this band.
Glad you’re digging it.😎👍🎼🎸🎹🥁
Long live the white overalls & Boston Bruins logo.....

That made me travel back to my adolescence, in my room, smoking a joint and listening to that LP all afternoon long!👏🏿🎶😊

Don't forget Jeff Berlin on bass 🎵
Wow thank you man, a devoted Allan and Bruford fan here, this is a really important historical treasure!
I think so as well. I am gonna burn this to 2 CDrs, label them, and create a CD liner with art and tracks as a semi-permanent record of this show later on 😎👍🎵🎸 CHECK THIS OUT: th-cam.com/video/jSqc93C7yGc/w-d-xo.html
@@JazzRockFusionSynthesizerMusic Ha we never grow out of making mix tapes or getting pleasure from holding physical copies of the music, unlike our younger brethren who don’t care about the innocent wonders of an record sleeve or the concept of complete albums 🤘🏻
@@fusionfan6883 Well said. As a small time hobbyist CD seller/reseller I sell ~ 25 CDs a month and many are expensive, rare items of the fusion genre. CDs are not a dead media. www.ebay.com/usr/jazz_fusion_guy
Listening intently....THANK YOU!!
You are so welcome! ENJOY!!
Sounds very faithful to the recordings and some great improvisations too, brilliant why was this never released ?
Record labels are kind to fusion.
Utter stupudity perhaps.I don't know.Would have been nice uf they released one of the earlier sets with Allan instead of what went on the Bruford Tapes.Would have been nice if Allan would have stuck around. But me met Gary Husband and that was that.
It was never released as it was a board tape made by me, their FOH sound engineer and the cassette sat in my bottom drawer for 44 years. Just got around to transferring some of my old live shows to TH-cam. Check out my TH-cam Channel th-cam.com/channels/dIq9cqwTmvrj-AYHzBChRQ.html
@mojacarman I would have this version with Allan or a similar one.Just sayin'.
I was at that concert!!!!
Wow!!😎👍🎼🎸🎹🥁
When we were young!
Fantastique Bruford, et ses amis !
Cheers! TY. Holdsy!
Fantastico!
very cool
Only I'm missing the great Annette Peacock here. Seems she only performed at the Rock Goes To College show. I'm aware most people didn't like her in the Bruford band, which I never understood. Annette is one of the most innovative singers, keyboardists, lyricists and composers in jazz. Bill knew this. Anyways, great show, thanks for remastering.
I'm one of those people. She just sounded bland and flat like there was zero range in her voice. I STILL like listening though. The music is just that good!
Right, I would love to hear more live Annette with Bruford, it seems she only performed on "Rock Goes to College," as well as their appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test. Her lyrics on "Adios los Pasado" changed my life, and so has the rest of her career. Live performances of hers are hard to come by, she seems to respect herself as a composer more than a performer, which is understandable. I would love to know her thought process on life, seems very interesting and inspiring.
@@erickearns9812 If you listen to any of her work other than "Rock Goes to College," which she seemed nervous and under-rehearsed, she has the most dynamic and texturally contrasting voice I have ever heard. Her range and timbral abilities are out of this world, not to mention her compositional abilities are diverse and unique; she is one of the most talented musicians to walk the earth IMO. She really was trying to find her self during the Bruford years it feels to me, so maybe this band isn't the most accurate representation of what she can do. Listen to the album, "I'm the One," if her voice is still bland, flat, and with zero range than I think a revaluation of your criteria of good singing is necessary.
@frizzonofficial I highly recommend X-Dreams as well. What a sultry voice!
@@frizzonofficial Agreed 100 % with everything you said. Annette is gorgeous in every way. I too got the impression of her beeing quite nervous and insecure at the RGTC show. But I'm wondering why. Because she already was very experienced in playing live. Remember her with the Paul Bley Sythesizer Show? This goes back to 1968. So a little bit strange, she still was nervous in 1979. Maybe she's always nervous. 😄 One of my favourite albums is "The Perfect Release". Her latest release is from 2005. So I wonder what she's doing now. I think I read or heard that she's retired from music, if I'm correct. Can anyone confirm?
11:40 - Little moment of humour from Dave Stewart on keyboards? 😁
A slight trilling twiddling by Dave indeed.
