I have been through the same Journey.
I too started as a Systems Engineer in TCS. I acquired this through campus placement.
I knew I would never get shortlisted if I apply for Big Companies like Google, Microsoft etc.,
I dropped off, did M.Tech in IIT Dhanbad and got placed in Microsoft R&D.
Will be completing 1 year this June with Microsoft. :-)

Microsoft didn't buy in a skilled techie they buy in a person who aims to improve himself learns, doesn't give up, fails and falls but gets up to learn to fight back and to dream big. After all the fake and negative stuff around. Time well spent watching this.

sHi guys! Let me just share to you a short story. We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we just graduated college and were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. I started it out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second one currently under construction but launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

Just sharing my personal views. The person who speaks in the video got a good project where he learnt a new tech and then that sort of helped him see a career path.
This happens very rarely in service world. But 1 out of 100 people get the best projects and best onsite work. If you are the lucky one, it will kickstart your career.
Rest 99 will have to slog and slog and slog until they find it. With companies its the chicken and egg problem. They want people with experience in tech, where as employees wants the company to give them work to gain that experience.

    • @vishalratna89
      @vishalratna89 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think I should answer this. I did not get the dev project just like that. I got a android testing project and I came out of ODC saying won't work. After android project I was assigned ITIS project to which I said a NO. I was fooled by saying it is a dev project and was sent in an support project. I fought back and came out. I can't give all the details here but it was not that easy to get a project where I could learn.

    • @thiruvetti

@@vishalratna89 my comment was not meant to undermine ur achievements. I was just stating facts. I come from a place of years of experience. I have been a person who fought my way throughout my career to get decent projects with the new tech of that time. As I said, our hard work doesnt always guarantee the results. For some it clicks, for many they need to continue trying in a loop.

    3 mistakes
    1. Wasting college life
    2. Emotional outlet and reacting to criticism (short spike of motivation)
    3. Overconfidence

Vishal answered all the questions I had!.
Key takeaway : 1. Accept criticism , be confident , not overconfident.
    2. Spend quality time to enhance your skill .

    Very inspiring!!!
There are lot of videos on TH-cam on which people talks the success of only those person who started their preparation in the first year of college.
This is the first video I got where we can relate ourselves, the people who are not aware or hadn't so much exposure to IT and their interview process in their college life.
It is easy for the students who started their preparation early. But this video is for those people who realize the importance of data structures and system designs when joining an organisation.
Truly interesting...we will like to have more videos like this which talks about the story of people who started their preparation late

I am also going through same phase where i am trying to get into development from support role but i get demotivated after sometime easily because i don't get much hands on experience as i do not write a single line of code at my work. So when i study something i forget after sometime.
It would be very helpful if you can put a video on time management and approach for a support guy like me @E-Learning Bridge
