Thanks Johan, was great seeing you use the shavette’s and trying before forming an opinion and taking all of us on the ride. It’s great seeing people try new things and experience new things like myself with straights and wetshaving in general. It’s a fantastic hobby and the community have been great including yourself with tips and general help. Thanks again mate! Can’t wait to see the straights back in action! Take care and have a great end of week buddy. 😉👍
I started with shavettes before trying a straight razor mainly due to the cost. It was inexpensive to get started and the ease of finding a blade that works for me was fairly easy. I don't have a Feather DX but did get to try one ... it has a nice weight to it making it easy to allow the sharpness of the blade and the weight of the shaver to do most of the work for you. I do have an Feather Artist Club SS and I do enjoy shaving with it. For me it was one of the easiest shavettes to get used to out side of the Focus Slim Al . The Focus with the bevel made it easy for me to know where the angle should be. Shavettes can be a lot of fun to learn to use. Well done Johan.
I didn’t think it would be so tricky. When I think about it, the main problem was cutting myself when I put the bevel to the skin -did a lot of that and you get away with more when you use a straight. It!s like the edge on a straight is thicket. Apart from that it was rather ok.
Do you still prefer the feather shavettes over the straight razors? Still trying to figure out which way to go and wether to buy a feather ss or the leaf razor…
@@anonymous4201 Straight razors and shavettes take a certain amount of determination and patience but a Leaf Razor or even a Twig can give you a smooth shave but the satisfaction a person may get from a straight razor or a shavette ... well I haven't found anything that gives me the satisfaction quite like a shavette or a straight razor.
Thanks for your thoughts Johan. I have the non folding Feather SS which, if I remember correctly, is shaped to help achieve a good shaving angle. I found the Pro Guard blade to be a little uncomfortable compared to the Professional blades, but it has taken me quite a while to really become going with the razor. Very suddenly, my shaves were more comfortable and easier. It's one of my favourite razors now. That was a good video 👍 Cheers.
Thanks Mark. I am sure that I will get better shaves the more I practise. In the words of Tiger Woods (I think) when someone said he had been lucky on the course: It’s funny; the more I practise, the luckier I get.
Nice video Johan, it was really interesting to hear your views on the different shavettes Frank sent you, especially because of your experiences with straight razors. I wondered when you started whether you’d prefer the Weck or one of the Feathers, I didn’t think your preference would be for the Focus because of the weight and short blade. Also I was wanting to hear what you felt about the sharpness of the blades, compared to a manually honed edge. Wecks first for me (Kismet over Personna), Feather DX second (with a Pro or Super Pro). Enjoy going back to your “little darlings”. 😌👍
Thanks Dave. You are more experienced and more hardcore. There are pros and cons with most things in life. I shaved with a straight yesterday and didn't get as close a shave as I did with all the shavettes. I am just confused now...…!
I haven't done the press record button when finished thing.... yet... but I'm sure it'll happen sometime 👍 I've enjoyed the shavette series and thanks for the insight, now get back to having a huge chopper in your hand.... 👍 😂
Nice non-shaving, shaving video. And yep.... they are sharp, that’s why I don’t recommend shavettes as a starting ya getting into straight shaving... because they are inherently more difficult.
Agree, when we find someone who wants to try a straight razor, we should lend them a straight and a strop and let them try instead of "practising" on a shavette.
Shave&Butcher yes Sir! That’s how I do it.... sure shavettes are “cheaper “ but your going to bleed starting out and straights do have a bit more forgiveness for sure.
Awesome clickbait title.👌I could be wrong but I think the angle is steeper on disposable blades. A form of planed obsolescence that also makes the blade super sharp.
Weck Sextoblade shavette? It doesn't exist for sale! It is a vintage shavette? Have you found a good shavette? I came to the conclusione all shavette are garbage! Everyone has big difects and is very dangerous for the insert of dismounting of the blade or the blade not fixed, with handle losing and and not closed completely in the best of the hypotesis! Focus Slim seems having a system of fixing blade subject to the opening if you push your finger for mistake against the opening! Please tell me if you find someone without defects! in the range of shavette with double edge blades!!
Weck Sextoblade. It is vintage and usually they are available on Ebay. The only other shavette I have is a Feather Artist Club - a bit expensive but very good.

Thanks for your support Will. It has been interesting. It is fun to learn. Most of the time.

That Weck blade exposure looks lethal. I need to pick up some ProGuard blades for my shavettes.
The Weck is hardcore. Yes try the ProGuard and see if you like them.
what can you tell me about Mr Beard family straight razor Master? The blafes moves; The handle closes?
Greetings. I don’t think I have tried it, I’m afraid.
Did you prefer the heavier DX or lighter SS Feather Artisan Shavette?
You know, with Frank's home-made scales, there wasn't much of a difference in weight, but the heavier the better according to me!
@@Shave_n_Butcher That's pretty smart of Frank. The aesthetics is awesome but to take a less expensive version and customize it is also pretty smart.
I’m starting to think that he actually is smart.

Doug Bear: No, I’m serious.
Great overview! Glad you had a chance to try them. Glad you had fun!
Grazie mille!!!

Ha ha, things rarely make sense 🤣
But today we’re back with a perfect Filarmonica shave!
Shave&Butcher, normality is resumed, the planets have realigned 😌👍

Chopper is chopper!
Nicely done Johan enjoyed watching you use them.
Thanks Tim!
Nice video
👍👍👍
Shavettes are sharp as hell
😂😂😂
In my mind i think straight are better for me.
Take care my friend.

it's like they were meant to cut something.....

As Flash would say a very nice non shaving shaving video 👍😎💈
Why thank you!
Thanks for your insights Johan. I've enjoyed the videos.

I always learn something with each video
Thanks John. Much appreciated!
You didn’t show how to load the blade on each one!
I would just have been cutting myself.
Awesome clickbait title.👌I could be wrong but I think the angle is steeper on disposable blades. A form of planed obsolescence that also makes the blade super sharp.
You are probably right. I use them as I would a SR. Not necessarily the right approach...!
😜
