Merling is actually _so_ OP. Let me explain. 1. you swim SO fast so travel over long distances is super easy. 2. there’s a ton of underwater ravines with a ton of ores so its incredibly easy to get rich. 3. at the beginning you just need a bucket of water or water bottles to travel over land, slower yes, but doable. 4. there’s virtually no mobs but drowned to fight off underwater on the regular. 4.5 you take no damage from pufferfish lol 5. you can see perfectly underwater and can mine at the usual speed. 6. water breathing potions, enchantments, and a conduit give merlings the ability to breathe on land. -1. granted it’s _incredibly_ difficult to go to the nether long enough to get blaze rods as a merling even with a water breathing enchantment and water bottles, so this is where they struggle in single player. but after getting those enchantments and potions? after getting a conduit? they have complete control over the water and perfectly manageable ability to go on land. merlings thrive when there’s a community of them and their base is in the water. niki here seems underpowered because she’s trying to live among land dwellers lol.

The reason sneeg can climb any block is because he’s so small his hands fit between atoms
A more serious headcanon for me is that the blocks aren't completely smooth and sneeg is small enough to grab the small indents in blocks
