I was at this race. I went with a friend that tried to qualify for the night show. I remember using 1-800-Collect on a pay phone in the Georgia Dome to call home. Back then the amateur and pro races were all on Saturday. The amateur practices started at 6am and were finished by noon. Then the qualifying races for the night show started. If you didn't have points in the series you had to go through several qualifying races to make it into the night show. Sadly, my friend didn't qualify but it was a lot of fun.
