I think that Derkila, the former demon king either died and got sealed in the ring of gluttony or someone sealed him on purpose. Him being sealed away made him forget all his past memories but everytime Iruma rises in the ranks a little of his old consciousness comes back. Just a theory that I think may be true, but Derkila being Iruma's father would definitely be interesting too.
