Charlie Richardson - The Last Gangster Pt2

- I'm talking again this week about this man, Charlie Richardson. The last gangster was the title of his book. It was actually published just after he died and written in conjunction with a dear friend of mine called David Miekel. So we got to 1966, Charlie, and come back from South Africa, where you've been doing extremely well in mining.
It was a big mistake to come back to England because the police were after him. He came back to help his brother Eddie, who had been involved in a shootout with a Kray gang.
Eddie had been shot and also arrested by the police. Charlie came back to try and help his brother and that, as it turned out, proved to be a very big mistake because Henry was now in court on charges of fraud, extortion, assault, GBH.
I worked in an ascot hotel charlie stayed over one night . I was running the late bar i think only charlie was in the place that night . We sat having a good chat about alsorts what a nice bloke . Stuck £50 note in my shirt pocket for a tip .
Thank you for making these videos and telling these stories

Frankie Fraser was of a time ,he’d last five minutes these days.

Nice one Fred , your a legend
So kind. Many thanks.
Wasn't it Billy Hayward's gang in Mr Smiths not the Kray mob?
Just a shame the brothers Charlie and Eddie fell out so badly.
Remember this dude from How2
Thats me! ✋🏽
Fred foreman is the last gangster, still living, and they were all scared of him, he is the creme dela creme when it comes to gangsters, but Charlie didn't deserve the quarter of a century they slung up his arris
Shame on you Dinenage,
I was away with Eddie as a cat A in long lartin in 98 and as all who were there will tell you we were very good friends we still are,Eddy told me straight that the torture never happened it was a stitch up because Charlie had become an agent of South Africa security. So he had to be taken down. They fell out with each other and never spoke again. When we were there Reggie and his brother Charlie turned him and were introduced to me, they were polite and respectful and we had a chat together and many chats with Charlie about his conviction for coke. Both of them were not intelligent but very respectful to Eddy. Many saw us talking and you see comments on you tube about them turning up in the gym in long lartin. It was a very tough prison in those days very few who left there were ever convicted again now more than 25 years have passed.
Must of been interesting if nothing else.
Fred, why don't you tell us a story about someone who did good?
On its way!
I don't think Charlie was a gangster, he was a business man but was certainly someone to not upset. I think Eddie being mates with Frankie Frazer was the problem. Let's face it Frazer was not all that bright really was he and I get the impression Charlie didn't think to much of him
Definitely a great businessman. Many thanks.
Not true. As someone who spent some time with Frankie I can tell you he was actually quite bright and clever.
I don't think so, I remember watching a documentary he done that was pretty racist and he was talking about sending ppl that were not British home, also to do the amount of bird he done i don't think was very bright. He always came across to me as someone with a pretty low IQ
@@harryevans1786 In your opinion he was "pretty racist" (I'm not sure wanting just British people to live in Britain is racist. Maybe google what racism is before you bander it about) As I said before when I met him in person he seemed very alert and bright to me. I try to avoid having strong opinions on people I have not met in person. Yes he did plenty of bird but in the main that was because he had quite a temper on him and didn't like the screws taking advantage which they seemed to do quite a lot back in the day.
Well actually there was a very racist under tone in that documentary he did. Personally for me there are much more interesting ppl on the planet to talk about rather than that idiot. I am so happy for you that you met him. I think most ppl that lived in his day that knew him that had half a brain thought he was an idiot, they may have found him amusing but still an idiot.
100% Fred.I remember reading books as a little kid,and remember your name on the front cover of a few.the Richardsons where stitched up.Charlie didn’t even have a criminal conviction did he?
Hi Fred it's trev dec singer here just to say hello and I love this one God bless you could you please try and ask if I could sing in blind beggar and I will do it for charity thanks Declan for the krays please contact me thanks Trevor doocey ❤
Charlie got 25yrs for bugging the PMs office, they never tortured anyone, just an excuse to give out the politically motivated sentence.
