  • I spoke with Emma Tropea, a 19-year-old student at Lynn University, majoring in entrepreneurship. She also is a social media micro-influencer.
She speaks about how her depressive symptoms started to impact her life from a young age and she was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She explains that she attempted to end her life 5 times and struggled with self-harm, but now she has turned her life around!
We discuss the challenges around taking the first step in getting help. Emma describes the "comfort" that can be felt in depression and how it can be difficult to remove yourself from the cycle you have become familiar with. We discuss tools and strategies to regain control of your life and appreciate every day you get to live! We talk about the importance of being supported by those around you and how beneficial simple tools such as breathing techniques can be when feeling overwhelmed/anxious.
From the stressors of entering university to waking up at 5am, listen to this episode to hear Emma and I chat about some really important mental health topics!
Remember that the process of healing includes setbacks, but whenever you do stumble, remind yourself of how far you've come. 💙
