- Nhl news today this boston bruins jeremy swayman cam neely element has added even more to this situation and seemingly thrown it straight up into the air as far him re-signing vs the trade rumors gaining more realism. Boston bruins news will definitely be something to keep an eye on after the cam neely press conference and swayman's agent response. The jeremy swayman contract situation will go down as one of the wildest in recent memory and I wonder if bruins fans now expect/want a jeremy swayman trade or still feel confident in him sticking around. The moment they traded Ullmark without having Sway locked up they gave away all their leverage. Sway and his camp know that and now the Bruins are paying the price.
Swayman wont put those numbers up on just any team. Bostons Defense helps out a ton.
Gros tata
You could say that about any goalie(it’s a team game) but that’s not the point. The point here is he’s got value and bruins don’t want to give into it even after trading their leverage Ullmark. Lousy management on their part and Swayman deserves at leave some .5-1 greater than his last pay out.
True, and this channel or another did a why pay (stats go down) a big contract (stats loss after). But, he's human and will resent the 64m leak. Class-less. I have 0% skin in the game. Cam Neely = jerk from now on.
I believe Neely and Sweeney way more than I do gross. That guy is a lying sleaze ball and everyone knows that. You already made every point as to why swayman should accept an 8x8 but I’m going to emphasize that he’s NEVER played close to the amount of games a starter would and then playoffs. Jack Campbell looked amazing in the playoffs one year then was TERRIBLE the next season.
Goalies don’t grow on trees if they lose him korpisalo is too mid to repair the damage and for a number 1 some team will gladly pay for swayman
They've lost his motivation, apart from professionalism. Class-less move neely.
As a habs fan, it would be the funniest thing ever if they fumble ullmark and swayman into korpisalo and a backup
took sway to arb and said bad things about his game. dealt ullmark before signing sway? whoops.
Sway was the one that took them to arbitration
Sway chose arb if I'm not mistaken
Swayman took them to arbitration and then cried about it all year like a sensitive soy boy. Swayman thinks of himself as some type of trail blazer going to "set the market for goalies" which is not the attitude you want from some kid who hasn't proven himself at all. He hasn't met a microphone or camera he doesn't love.
please do some research before saying things that aren't true.
Literally doesn't matter either way, full on war now, good luck with a good relationship now. Both are retarded for doing this. Who'd want to stay after?
Can't let these players bend your team over. Otherwise, you end up like Toronto.
What a maroon
Ironically, the recent Nylander BS was caused by the same person, Lewis Gross.
Look into gross' history with his clients and it makes sense. There's a third-party involved. Its nothing that the Bs are doing wrong (besides Neely disclosing numbers) and nothing swaymans doing wrong studying the market.
Boston needs Swayman and Swayman needs Boston. I can’t see any other team giving up the farm for him given games played.
Utah and and Anaheim could afford him some of the bottom teams have the money, so it will be a low risk.
Not true. No one wants an 8 year term on a non tested goalie. If he’s traded he’s not getting an 8 year term.
@@pickachu69Can't even offer 8 years under the CBA unless you're re-signing with the same team
@@spacetoast7783 7 then 🤓
Your wrong other teams will sign him for what he wants .
It is so weird that Johnathan doesn’t have 100k subs. I think he deserves that silver play button. Keep it up👍🏻
i've been saying this for a couple years now, ever since the cassidy sack, fire neely and sweeny... they are the issue for the boston tea party up there. swayman is a 8x8 player. and it's not like igor wher he wants 10.5+, he wasnt to be fairly compensated, and and 8x8 or any thing between that and 9 is fair for swayman given his rise and success...
and what is boston going to do with the 8.5M in cap space? give it to zboril? pay swayman
That Neely comment was an A+ level fumble. Entirely unprofessional and petty.
Unless it was a calculated move so that Swayman could hear the Bruins offer for himself. Let's not forget who Lewis Gross is.
Pretty funny and savage though
But Swayman going public about his contract was not? When you say "I want to set the market for goalies" you've got more on your mind than winning hockey games. If he really turned down 8x8 and is asking for 10M or more this was a great move by Cam. Swayman hasn't proved anything. And there are some very real concerns about his ability to play more than 40 games. He's a really streaky goalie that has his good moments and has some really bad ones too.
Neely was an idiot when he played, you expect different now?
that is Cam Neely thoough, blockhead Fred Flintstone like Mike Milbury.
Maybe Swayman asked for 64M AAV 🤔
Im going to direct a movie with Steve Carell as Cam Neely
They never offered him that. They are saying they did. Neeley and Sweeney are idiots. They screwed this up from day one. Trading Ullmark so soon. Swayman should request a trade. If another team will give him 64 mil 8x8 he should take it elsewhere and say F Boston.
I believe Neely over Gross who has a long history of lying.
Gross has a track record of being a scumbag. None of this is going to fall on Boston mgt or swayman.
@@angushiltz4880 Both sides lie in a negotiation.
No chance I believe gross. He didn’t even imply that they wanted 64 million. Which in itself implies he wants more. Read between the lines with slimy agents
Everyone says Sweeny and neely are idiots for traded ullmark but guess what...they did that as a sign of good faith towards swayman. And now he's pissing in their faces for it. He's acting like a bitch tbh
Montreal will take him.
No keep him in the US. He’s an American he doesn’t want to go to a Canadian team.
@LandonGirard-c2f oh that stinks:(
Montreal doesn’t need him.
Monumental Fumble, like we might have a GM going down soon
Why would Sweeney get fired? This was all Neely
@@caseygodin8241 because he didn't focus on signing Swayman before giving him all the leverage.
@@caseygodin8241just put the dunce cap on and see yourself out kid 😂😂
@@Venture143 Swayman is an RFA for the next two years. He definitely doesn't have all the leverage.
I initially wanted him gone, the money that was being asked for was more than we had. But with the potential of Gross lying about not receiving an offer like that, and the implications of Swayman in the dark, I can't be that hard on him anymore. We just gotta wait for the truth, and the deal, to cast judgement on him
This should have been handled behind closed doors by both sides. I can't believe Neely did that, but if 8x8 is being offered I think Sweeney should take it. Especially having only played 132 games. It's not good for either side for the season to start with this hanging over their heads.
I ❤ Swayman. If he goes, so should Sweeney and Neely. They mishandled this from the beginning.
I'll tell you what I don't know how anyone else feels, but I certainly don't find the Bruins announcing Korpisalo the opening starter 'cheeky'. I'm not pinning my hopes on someone who "wants to transcend how goalies get paid" on a current contract dispute a week out from the season. No way, Korpisalo gets the start, we'll cross the bridge of Swayman's starts when and if we get there.
Sway doesn't want 8yrs probably with the cap rising
Oh seabass
I don't doubt it that Swayman will give in but only when Lewis Gross is fired by him. Gross is a terrible agent and is known to make players uncomfortable around him.
Swayman should not because of the money which was a nice chunk of change but the way the Bruins organization handled it. I think he can get this from other teams. I know Swayman is Stanley cup material. What he showed us last very impressive. If he does leave it’s going to bite them ( Bruins ) in the ass.
The only one that should go is Sweeney… just making a mess of everything.
As for Swayman - he’s good, but he isn’t worth anymore than that “yet”.
I don’t really get why a bridge deal couldn’t work say, 2 years at 5.5
Then that takes him to be a UFA and if he truly is a s greedy as he looks then off you go. (Having obviously been traded prior)
Or if he’s legit about wanting to remain a bruin, he’s then been able to show he can handle the number 1 workload and the bruins have the ability to go here’s 10m for 6 as the cap will have gone up.
As it stands there’s no chance in hell cam Neely is lying.
Kids 4 years out of college . 3 seasons played rotation. thinks he is the Bruins all time great now.
If the wings hadnt signed a heap of not very good goalies we probs could have made a great offee
I'm not sure why Gross would come out and call Neely a liar, like Boston media wouldn't crucify him by dropping a contract number when he's trying to fit Swayman underneath it. if he shouts out 64 then the deal will have to be AT LEAST 64 million. it's more likely that the latest Boston offer just wasn't brought to Swayman as Gross was trying to get more so now he needs to cover his ass.
Wow! Imagine?
I had heard that Gross hid offers from his clients in the past but I couldn't find any solid proof of it. Did he actually do that? Or is that just a hunch?
I wonder if the people saying 8x8 is a good deal can name goalies that have looked good all the way through an 8 year contract.
How old do you think Swayman is?
@@spacetoast7783 young goalie isn’t a big benefit. So many young goalies lose it and retire young. It’s not as big as a fight with time as it is being consistent
Again we have someone hitting Swayman for not playing many games, not being "the" guy. Dude, if that's true, if he hasn't proven enough and you don't think he's accomplished, then the Bruins should just trade him, right? I mean he's not that good, not deserving. So if the Bruins get rid of him, they're only losing a guy who's played 100-blah blah games. So no big loss if they lose a guy like that right? "He's nothing." = trade him.
braindead take. imagine any other job where a new hire would get a corner office because they did really good on one project. he's not accomplished enough YET so he shouldn't make that much YET. in this case what he should be aiming for is a bridge deal, giving him the time to prove himself and then negotiate the large payday that takes him into his thirties
@@matt05024 Either the Bruins know their player or they don't. Either he's worth the money or he isn't. Every team has to project potential. Either pay the man or trade him. If he's as unaccomplished as you say, no loss in trading him.
Swayman is a great goalie. He might be top 5 in the future. But if they did offer him 8x8, that is more than fair.
He hasn't played a full season as a starter and he's asking for Vasvelesky money.
Sway reminds me of Binnington. Guy gets a sniff of success and all of a sudden he wants a team to back up a money truck. He's played 40 games a season for the last 3 years.......and wants 8m a year?? He's not worth the bag, on any level. He is demanding the pay of a goalie who plays 55-65 games a year. It may not seem like much on paper but those 10-15 extra games matter and is likely the difference between him being top 15 and top 30......He just isn't worth it. 8m a year for 2 years.....maybe. But even that is too much and it puts Boston in a shit spot.
That’s the thing, this is the first year he’ll be taking on that kind of load
Looks like they might have traded the wrong goalie
Reminds of when bs traded Joe thornton
Bit much for a goalie but also who else do they have to start
Well Toronto needs a good goalie. Do the Bruins need Marner or Tavarez? xD
Hell to the no
Monumental fumble
Marner for Swayman
He's going to end up making the Bruins less competitive either way, if he doesn't play or if they pay him the ransom he demands. Bad situation.
Swayman has not proved himself being worth 10 million. 8,5 should be about right. No more than that.
8.5 is generous if we're being real, not to mention that leaves $0 of wiggle in the cap
He's great and I want him of course to play years in boston, but I wish he'd take a page out of the Bergeron book and maybe get paid a little under market so we'd have the cap to be a more competitive team going forward.
😂😂😂 welcome to the real world kid 😂😂😂
they got rid of ullmark before signing sway lmao
Had to
Massive fumble from the Bruins. This was all management had to get done this offseason and they’re too busy trying to win in the media than on the ice for the second year in a row with Sway.
I'm not a Bruins fan but swayman deserves $10 million all day long. He is just as valuable or more valuable than players like nylander, Marner, Petterson, Karlsson, Huberdeau, Seguin just to name a few who all make $10-11million. So why would he take a penny less, why cuz he is goalie? Goalie is most valuable player on the ice(debatable with first line center if he is elite like Matthews or McDavid) this elite center is just a little more valuable than top 10 goalie in league and swayman is 100% top10.
B’s fan here - I think 8x8 is more than fair. I’d be shocked if that offer wasn’t on the table. Guessing the agent is full of it. Hoping it gets done but if he’s holding out for $10m+, happy to see him get that somewhere else. I think he’s very good, but that type of deal handicaps the team too much and he’s not in the Igor tier of goalies where you can justify thay
As a bruins fan, I really love him as a person and he was a stud in the playoffs but honestly whether justified or not the situation has made me kind of indifferent to if he stays or goes. I think I’m just so sick of hearing about it and having it overshadow everything that it’s doing (again justified or not) a lot of damage to his reputation. Also it seems like when the Boston fans don’t like someone they make it very clear and I’m not sure how that’ll go for Sway
Kind of hoping this falls on Lewis Gross' shoulders. He has been a shady agent in the past. Maybe Neely's "64" was the Bruins way of letting Swayman know of their offer personally.
Hi Jhonny
@jonathanHawkey Dylan Guenther played 78 games and just signed 7.14. Swayman is easiest worth 3M more than Guenther. Slafkovsky signed 7.6 121 games played Swayman 2-3M more valuable than Slaf. Owen power probably had less than 150 games played when he signed 8.3M swayman worth 2M more than power. Just to name a few could go on.
This is the new NHL lock up young players after 2 to 3 years so you get them a little cheaper but compare and swayman easily trumps them all at least by 2M.
Big long contracts don’t work for goalies.
But you don't compare him to skaters, you compare him to other goalies on the market. 8x8 is a fair goalie contract. There are Vezina caliber goalies who don't make 8mil per season. I know the cap is increasing so there's room for goalies contracts to grow with it. It'll be very interesting what happens with Swayman/Bruins.
5x5, and worth no more.
Boston is such a toxic culture that I wouldn’t put it past them to be messing with Swayman to try and over manipulate him in these negotiations.
As a Bruins fan, I'm not too bothered if we lose Sawyman. His merit this far doesn't really show him being anything more, than a goalie who had a hot streak. Look and goalies like Robin Lehner, Andrew Hammond, Corey Schneider. All of them looked great for a short while. Imagine if they had been signed for huge contracts based on few months of good play.
Benjamin probably in a couple years swaymans sent to the minors
You must not watch much hockey then...If you'd rather roll out Korpi + Bussi and lose multiple seasons of our core looking for another option, you're a special one
Korpisalo is under .900 in the majority of his seasons as a starter. You clearly don’t watch hockey😂😂
@@NoPe-n1j How is Sayman in his seasons as a starter?
@@Benjamin- Great, actually...2.25 GAA in 44 games last year and a top 5 SV % in the league.
