This survivor is amazing. Beautiful black and the original GTX sticker. What a nice interior and a four speed with buddy seat. Wow. Thanks for bringing it to us Lou! The last year of the real muscle too!

    Very cool 😎
I bought a 71 GTX with a 440 n 727 torque flite with 391 gears. The car was faded red with a white vinyl top with bitchin USA mags. It was 1981 for me here in so cal near Dodger stadium. My low paying Mc Donald's job help fund the upgrades n my street racing days stated. This car was fast back then for the streets. I was just a young lad driving around n teaching lessions of respect in this Mopar. Long live the old days n Glendale speed shop for helping me.

This takes me back to my youth . Thanks ! I'm going to tell my folks about this !
My parents ran the UK Mopar Muscle Club back in the early '80's ( 2x '68 RHD 'cudas / '68 Satellite 318's & a '68 440 Rt Charger- in black ! = I was the coolest kid at junior school in Brighton ! ) There were two locals - " The Peach Brothers " and they had a 440 (+6?? I can't remember ... ) '71 GTX also in black . Daisy mags on it and ran hard at the strip . Ahh good times !

Me neither. The 67 is my favorite GTX and my favorite Roadrunner is a 69 1/2 A12 440/6 BBL but I love the 71-72 body style. They were way more aerodynamic than any of the 66-70 B-Body Plymouth's so they made for a really slippery stock car on NASCAR superspeedways. Mopar no longer really needed the wing cars once the 71 body style came out plus NASCAR made a rule starting in 71 that there was now a 305 cubic inch displacement limit for the wing cars

Quite the find - beauty of a muscle car/luxury coupe. A pricey car for its time. The styling was either love or hate. Why buy one of these when you could get a Sport Fury? That was my aunts thinking when she bought a red Sport Fury GT. Which was bigger and widely seen as luxury while this was just seen as a gussied up Road Runner - which was for your kids to get. Another example of car companies having models competing with each other. Another great video brings back memories - thanks Lou!

I remember that "buddy" seat in my mom's 1968 Dodge Charger. It's where I was always allowed to sit with adults up front. Sometimes I'd pull the armrest down and sit on that for a better view. I was in the perfect spot to fly through any window if we got into an accident. No way you could get away with that now.

@@loucostabile I meant "on" this vehicle, and yes I've subscribed a long time ago.. Great videos and interviews..
I used to own a stock '71 Road Runner with 383 and pistol grip 4spd sporting buckets and a console, but no tach
during the late 70's.. and like countless previous owners of classic vehicles I wish I still had it.
Back then I desired the '69 & '70 Road Runners but settled for my odd looking dark green '71 because of it's affordability.

$4,400 was a pretty expensive car for 1971. You could buy a base model Roadrunner/Super Bee with the 383/4 speed for right about $3,000 give or take a few bucks
