    I have had epilepsy for 35 years. A ketogenic diet made the condition somewhat better but going completely carnivore cured it entirely. I wish Dr. Dom would do some research on this subject.

      @@imsupermattt It is pretty amazing from my POV. It's like having a whole new life. I just wish some research could get done in this area so I wouldn't keep getting the clapback of "that's just an anecdote". It could save so many people from going through what I've been through for decades.

      @@MatthewJohnson400 I eat ruminants, eggs, seafood with occasional dairy (a treat not a staple).
      I add some minor things for flavor such as spices and I drink non-caffeinated teas. Another occasional treat is low-zero sugar fruit such as avocado and berries. I eat once a day and I only get hungry once a day so this is not hard.

      @@samgravell3180 Completely. And so far I am 4/5ths off of the meds I was taking. Still working on the last 1/5th. Neurological meds are a bear to titrate because they can actually cause a seizure if you go too fast.

  • @paulreesor8200

    This is an area where science is really being dragged along..If you start from an assumption that burning glucose is as primary fuel you will lag behind of reality. The human body like most other species was never meant to have glucose as an abundant food source unless you're a bee. People are supposed to be in ketosis much of their lives. Grains and easy access carbs are all from domesticated plants that should only be used to get you through times of lack of proper food. Get everyone on ketogenic diet and then see what's left to solve. Get the obvious toxins out of your diet glucose fructose and omega 6 fats. Eat an animal products based diet and most of everyone's health problems will be gone.

    Combinning ketone salts or ester with mct oil makes ketone production more efficacious; sounds good.

    So disappointed that he's not pushing into the human trials for other types of Cancer. Precisely because there _isn't_ enuf science already on it. This just insures that our relationships with our Oncologists stays really cynical and non-productive. 😧😥😭

    At the 12m13s mark, Dom says in epilepsy/TBI, the ratio of glutamate to GABA goes down... but did he mean to say it goes up? i.e. glutamate is an excitatory amino acid and a keto diet can DECREASE glutamate by converting to GABA a inhibitory neurotransmitter (via glutamic acid decarboxylase)?

    My brain doesn’t have the glucose spike/crash so much, but I have to say my memory, cognition motivation, enjoyment of life is not too there anymore. It’s hard to stick to as there’s no motivation to it apart from some pounds lost, after weeks with IT and keto, even a yoga workout can bore me rigid.

    Dom D’Agostino seems to have reversed his hair loss. I wonder what he’s doing...

    • @nameremoved4010
      @nameremoved4010 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this sarcasm? I'll suggest a couple of things. First, coffee as it contains caffeine which is one methyl group from theophylline and the latter is said to cause hair loss so this maybe true of its chemical cousin (the former) ;-)
      Second, years ago I tried topical minoxidil and it advanced my hair line towards a younger me. Currently, I am thinking of using it again.
      I eat a low carb but not keto diet. I am not saying I am right rather I am just too tired or too lazy.
