I don't know about other states, but in Texas, lawyers have to defend criminals occasionally due to the fact that the person can't afford an attorney. They're called public defenders at that point, and the court assigns them the case. They don't have a choice. I'm sure the attorneys aren't in love with these types of cases. Especially since they're doing it for free.

Just because older children move back with parents doesn't mean there is something wrong with them! My children have had no choice in this economical crisis to move back in with me, and it gives them a chance to save for the future, so back of & don't tar everyone with the same brush.

Totally true. I was in my fifties and a widow when I could no longer afford the rent on my own apartment even working full time. I needed the help of my mother, but unfortunately she refused to help me. I ended up working and trying to live in my car which didn't last very long. Finally I got the help of social services but the whole thing was so traumatic that I never worked again.
In this case, being that the man was a felon, he most probably was unable to rent anything. The same mother who refused help to me bought my brother, a felon, multiple houses because nobody would rent to him...
That was a hard watch

Avid listener to the podcast! You both did a wonderful job analyzing these two cases. I will say, I’m 34 & had to move in with my grandmother. The prices in Seattle are truly skyrocketing & I provide my Grandma care so it’s a win-win. I do not think him being 42 & living at home is relevant (the word we live in is expensive). That was my only criticism-but I’m not harping on that. You both are wonderful & provide great insights.
I think the type of people these men are is more an issue than them living at home. I SERIOUSLY doubt they're helping their moms with bills and housework

To add to the sadness of CiCi's death, just a couple months ago, CiCi's dad was having a memorial bike run in memory of his daughter, and died as a result of a motorcycle accident. Such a sad story all the way around.

....of all the women in the world... like your daughter? really..... and the case with cynthia....i honestly just cannot....that beyond sweet baby girl... this is whats so scary.... you want to keep children kids for as long as is able (i.e not needing themto be afraid of the world etc) but things like this make it really difficult to not at least try to prepare the five year old (now watch me jinx that)... its sad... when i was five...we were always told if your ever in trouble find an adult etc... now its scary to even tell her that.... we stick to finding an officer but still like this world is just getting more and more horrid...its beyond disgusting....
