    Have a mini daushaund that resource guards his food, prize toys. He also doesn't like being manipulated on his back side andbfront chest. He snaps and had quite a bite. It took about 3 years to get it all under control. Used his drive for food to correct his issues.

    Thank you very much, I will try the long toy I spent a lot of time with my little guy, I take him out a lot we live in Florida and I have a part of garden safely fenced an he can go out any time, there are other dogs around but the are older and they consider him a pest,
    The original German name for this breed is DACKEL, there is a German very old book in Germany it talks about the adventures of DACKEL WALDI,
    IN 1972 in the German Olympics a DACKEL named WALDI was the mascot.
    You have been very helpful and I am following your advice my only problem is I am a senior citizen and not really good at joining WALDI on the floor, I have young people around me that play and spend time with him but they are not around 24/7. I hope hope he will outgrow this biting other wise he is a very sweet and loving little dog. ❤

    Question. What about chews like bully sticks? Can a puppy chew those instead? My first mini doxie in 2020 shredded my ankles. I had to constantly redirect. She us the only dog. She is 100% better now at 3 years old and im looking at getting her a baby brother to prevent a dominance debate. Thoughts?

    • @lennysixdachshunds1069
      @lennysixdachshunds1069  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a female at 3 would love a brother :) and bully sticks are usually not advised for puppies because of their puppy teeth being weaker. Something softer than a bully stick would be preferable so not to crack any teeth x

    Thank you so much for sharing the tips. I really love to watch your video and tips about dascshund.
    If you don't mind. May i ask how much & how many times should i feed my dascs puppy?
    Because i always think that he always getting hungry, cuz he always try to eat everything. In other way, i'm also afraid that he might have overweight if i feed him too much.. :(
    Please help to make a video about it. Thank you so much.. God Bless you :*

      @lennysixdachshunds1069  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey!
      So overweight puppies don’t matter. It’s better when they’re younger than 6 months that they’re overweight rather than underweight. So if you feel your puppy is too slim up their in take. I feed 3 meals a day until they’re 6 months old xx

    Hey ! Love your video! Was hoping to get some help... my Long haired dachshund has been biting (scratching) at both his hind legs... He starts whining and keeps spinning in circles. He will bark/sometimes bite if I try to stop his hind leg biting. The vet prescribed Apoquel which hasn’t helped.
    Also his anxiety has been out of control around other dogs (he barks like crazy and try’s to nip at them sometimes). He is not neutered. Any advice is appreciated!

    • @lennysixdachshunds1069
      @lennysixdachshunds1069  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave! Definitely watch my ‘let’s talk about barking’ And my ‘taking my dachshund to the pub’ videos as they’ll help your anxiety / barking out in public. In regards to the biting his back legs. What age is he? It sounds like he’s in awful uncomfort. It could be a few different things 1. Impacted anal glands (what is he fed?) 2. Early signs of IVDD (how old is he?) 3. Grass allergy which is probably what the vet thinks if they gave you apoquel but tbh that’s usually all legs not just hind. If you have Facebook search Nemo Tripawd Sausage Dawg and pop me a message to chat more x

    My 9 week old Dachshund is using me as a chew toy which is why I'm here. Great channel btw. I've heard using a pheromone collar that mimics the mothers sent (I think that's what it does) can help because the biting can be caused by anxiety from being separated from their mother and or brothers/sisters. What do you think about that? I will also take all of your advice.
    EDIT: And I do distract him with his chew toys all the time when he starts in on me, but he still sneaks in some bites.

    • @lennysixdachshunds1069
      @lennysixdachshunds1069  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They honestly pass the teething stage very quickly so I woildnt personally bother. Just then the biting into training with treats or work out what they want or play with them but it must be a long toy and you must swap hands immediately if they start getting close to your hands 💜

      @@lennysixdachshunds1069 Ok. Thank you for your response. He's actually been very chill today, he seems to already be getting better. I have another question though. Our 6 year old girl Dachshund, who had been used to our 14 year old boy dachshund without many issues, (that recently passed) was just recently introduced to the new 9 week old boy, that my wife brought home as my xmas present, and she's not happy. She's already attacked him twice, and we had to pull her off, I think it's both jealousy, and he also bites everything including her, although the last time she attacked him he was just in her vicinity. Any advice?

      @lennysixdachshunds1069  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey!
      Oh gosh that doesn’t sound great at all.
      So if he passes her for example does she go straight to attacking him?
      Or is it only if he comes over to bother her and she snaps to warn him off?

    • @babayaga4320
      @babayaga4320 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NuanDaa Yes, time. He's over a year old now, so he's past that stage, but honestly I never found a way to control it, I think it's just something they have to go through, and when the adult teeth come in they won't be nearly as sharp. Enjoy your little guy, they are the best. Right now though the best way to handle it is to just have chew toys around you at all times and just put that in his face when he starts biting.
