Never even heard of a Maverick until this video popped up. The quickest way to solve the upper bed problem is to make it wider. The lower level sleepers can still get into bed and the upper sleeper could get another 6 inches or more of space. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome, thanks! It would be cool to have somewhere to share in a community so I could see what you come up with, I think that's awesome! Maybe share a TH-cam video!
Dude that looks AMAZING. I just got a maverick too and you got me inspired. I'm in SLC, any chance I could take a look to it in person and chat with you about the build??
Hi Scott. Thanks for all of your videos! I really want to build a camper for my Hybrid Maverick. Did it rain on your trip? I'm wondering if having the overhang helps to keep the water out of the bed? I made a plywood tonneau cover with 2 coats of rustoleum, and a coat of flexseal paint. The piano hinge is sealed with rubber underneath it, and the flexseal on top. The edges that sit on the bed rails are sealed with weatherstripping. Water STILL comes in from underneath the plastic bed rails.
You bet! Yes it did rain on two of my trips, not sure how much rain though, but we didn't notice any water coming in. I'm sure the overhang helps prevent water from coming down in. It was one of my original concerns, but so far, so good! Hmmm...interesting. Yeah, my topper has the overhang on front and both sides, so having a plywood cover is probably more challenging to prevent water from leaking in. Have you seen my other video on the plywood cover I made? I think it's actually on my other channel "Scott Russon". However I didn't use anything to water seal it. I've only used it on two long road trips when we had good weather, but I'm sure if it did rain water would come inside. I hope that helps!
Curious, how heavy are you on the gas pedal? I ask because I have a heavy foot. A guy in the Maverick truck club built a foamie topper cabover without overhanging sides, and said he got about 25 mpg, going about 80mph on a 2000? mile trip...
I'm not heavy on the gas pedal. I'm conscious of every mile I can squeeze out as possible. I took it to Yellowstone last year, 1200 miles total and averaged 32 mpg!
Thanks! Do you mean how did I do the overhang structurally to support the weight? And I don't have an antenna, just a fan skylight and 100 watt solar panel.
Oh gotcha! Yeah, I was worried about it when I first saw the Maverick. But I bought a smaller antenna and have about 1” clearance between the overhand and antenna!
i am looking into trailer but to be pulled by a ebike not meant for camping but for a workplace for my mobile business i am looking at possible designs and help to build it
Haha, yeah, believe it or not, I've slept a few nights up there, and since I've had others (smaller than me) sleep up there. I'll be making it larger up there for the next one!
This is the first camper/topper I've seen for a maverick, good job!
Thank you very much! I've put a lot of work into multiple of these!

Yeah, thanks for sharing!
I think it's fantastic! Thanks for sharing this camper.. you rock dude! Wish I could have one.. lol..
Thank you!!
Great job. I am using your ideas to build my own Maverick camprt

I'm surprised you didn't fiberglass the inside and out ...

Your topper looks very well thought out. What did you do about overhang and the roof antenna?
Thanks! Do you mean how did I do the overhang structurally to support the weight? And I don't have an antenna, just a fan skylight and 100 watt solar panel.
@@ScottsMiniCampers The stock Maverick antenna that is in the center rear of the truck's roof.

@ScottRusson Do you have video of the camper on the Maverick and the antenna?
I'll check if I do and try to upload a video as soon as I can!@@andyc8120
Would you be willing to share the measurements for the camper?
Yes, of course! As soon as I have enough time, I'll try to put something together!
Here's the measurements! I hope this helps! th-cam.com/users/shortsZ0OoViRPERI
