I watch EVERY single video of these two that I can find. There are no other better pairs skaters. Not in my book. And it doesn’t matter if there is Russian commentating or interviewing or not.....I still love to go back in time, even if just for a few minutes, to when Sergei was alive and when Katia and Sergei were still skating together....and ultimately loving each other...💞
Nettie Reynolds I agree 100%. I miss them together sooooo much😢. Katia isn’t currently involved with anyone now though, is she? I mean, I know she got divorced a few years ago....
@@mariebueno3950 Katia had said that she had to stop doing that move where Sergei would throw her up in the air and she did the splits then the turns before he caught her because it would raise her heart rate too much.
Bunni Armani they never stopped that move. How on earth would they know her heart rate jumped up? They would need to take her pulse during the move and that’s just not possible. They have Always been the Best and Always will be!
She said that Soviet doctors measured her heart rate when she did the quadruple twist because she had to spin so fast.. They stopped doing it and just did double and triple twists because the quad expended so much energy but they didn’t really get higher marks for it.

Does anyone know the details of Sergei's heart attack? Very odd for him to die of a heart attack at age 28 when he was so physically fit. Makes me wonder if there's more to that story. Katya once said Sergei hated skating, as though he was forced into it. Did he speak out, or refuse to compete?
There are many theories. Fact: The real "heart attack" took place a few hours before he died. Only a few people were with the pair in this moment... And only a few minutes before his death G&G went to another ice hall to train alone... after the normal group training= less people. Maybe he isn't dead (its possible to fake those things really well for many decades now) but katarina etc don't know it (that would be even more tragic than his death. I heard the rumour that he was poisened and that could be true.
@@biancahotca3244 everything is in the Katia's book My Serguei, he didn't want to skate because their first coach put a lot of preassure on them, for this reason they changed their coach, obviously he had more experience than Katia because he had 5 years skating than her
I can’t believe conspiracy theorists are delving into Sergei’s death. What an moronic world we live in. Sergei had inherited a form of a gene (from his father) called the platelet antigen gene (now referred to casually in the medical field as “the Grinkov effect”), which has numerous bad effects on the body, including greatly increasing the odds of heart disease and an early heart attack. Googling “the Grinkov effect” will bring up numerous articles re: the findings. Being physically fit really doesn’t matter in sudden cardiac death cases, as the cause is genetic not lifestyle. Sergei didn’t like skating with Zhuk. Once Zhuk was gone, he was happy/fine to keep skating. He didn’t need to “speak out” because he was retired and living in the US.

He had an enlarged heart and a genetic condition inherited from his father.
