@@randommthrfkr6568 it doesn’t revolve around me but to say it’s overrated is ridiculous. Of course youth won’t talk about Seinfeld. It wasn’t a hip show for 90s babies. I didn’t watch it in the 90s. I watched Martin. Family Matters. Fresh Prince. Rugrats. Shit even Full House and such. But as an adult I’ve grown to love Seinfeld. But you’re right. It is your opinion. But numbers don’t lie. I also don’t think the kind of show really hits internationally. Maybe it’s a regional thing.

This isn't even the 1st episode. It's the pilot episode made about a year before Season 1 even began. Kramer's name was Kessler and his character was 180 degrees different from the classic character he became. Elaine (Julie Louis-Dreyfus) wasn't even in it. She became the #1 sitcom star of all time with 11 Emmy awards and 26 Emmy nominations. If this is all you're gonna do of the classic Seinfeld show- it's not worth it.

Seinfeld as a show is like a sandwich. The bland bread (beginning and end of the show) is the most mediocre part of the entire series but the middle section of it (the juicy meat) is some of the most unique and cleverly written tv comedies in a long time which speaks volumes about a show that has no real plot except following the follies of 4 New Yorkers. Like others have stated, the first season isn't that great. Several of the characters were rewritten and reworked later on. The show has a change of tone midway through season 2, where the characters start to resemble what they'll be like for the rest of the series more closely. Everyone is much more normal at this point. George, for instance, is a lot more reasonable and laid-back in this pilot episode compared to what he'll be like in just a couple of seasons.

You mean pilot. The predictable 'season so and so is so much better', like you're bagging the first season. The first season is excellent. The first season is what made Seinfeld successful, got people's attention. Subsequent seasons aren't necessarily better, they're just different, the show evolved, changed. I can see why people are saying Jerry is irritating maybe because of the way he points things out, but For one thing i know in America people expressed themselves and opinions, and all that about narrators and all that but people have to eventually come to a realization to realize That the show is very classic and one day they will like it. I just see a lot of hate surrounding it in this comment page. And sadly it kinda bothered me to see people write that as a person who likes Seinfeild but I wouldn’t want to be bothered and the goal/challenge is to not let ourselves get bothered by small things cause bother is bad. The sitcom’s finale aired in 1998, but its popularity has transcended into this millennium-which is impressive for a series that’s often described as a “show about nothing.” It’s that “nothing” that earns Jerry $110 million each year. Seinfeld’s TV and Hulu reruns quite literally pay off.

One at a time, many Seinfeld episodes may not be that impressive. They get better, when you see them as a whole. You realize the extra effort they are putting into these. That other sitcoms do not.
The extra sets, for example. Most sitcom episodes will be filmed on 2-3 sets. A Seinfeld episode will be filmed on 5-6 sets. Might be an entire set just to watch somebody open an envelope or something. Just so we can see the expression on their face.
Also, most sitcom episodes have 1 or 2 plotlines. A Seinfeld episode has 3 or 4. Always tying together at the end, in the craziest ways.
There will never be another sitcom like Seinfeld. It is pure magic.

Yeah you need a few seasons to really get into it. For me it is much better than Friends, but neither as as good or held up as well as CHEERS.

It is probably the Most over rated show in television history.

Seinfeld doesn't really get good until halfway through the third season

I didn't watch Seinfeld until it was well past the 3rd season & in syndication. The first episode I watched was The Limo & I had no idea who the characters were but I really enjoyed it.

It took a while before I liked it. It takes a few episodes before you realize it is one of the best ever made. You have to get to know the characters because the comedy isn’t the type that’s up front funny. But once you
Get used to the personalities and you understand the funny angles they see every day things. It’s amazing. This episode they made a big deal out of “signals”. Also it got even better as the series went on. Especially after the first season. It didn’t look as dated.

It’s not overrated. It’s like saying the Beatles are overrated. Without Seinfeld, many of the best comedy series of the past 30 years would never have existed. Friends is kinda derivative, whereas Seinfeld is insanely nuanced and intellectually brilliant.

It really does get way better as it goes on. I feel like in a way out way Friends is more of the updated version of Seinfeld. But George and Kramer are two of the most unique and hilarious characters of all time.

Forget about that list, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT is one of the funniest sitcoms ever. Also consider FRASIER and NEWS RADIO.

Seinfeld was super funny as the show moved on.It was funny because it was everyday funny real stuff.None of that lesson learned at the end of each show.

I am a huge fan of the Seinfeld show. Although the pilot episode was not the best. The series gets much funnier as it progresses.

It's as simple as this, if you're old enough and mature you will love it, if you're young and inexperienced, you'll hate it cause you wouldn't get it. It's a show made for adults, not teens or young adults. Take that in consideration.

The middle seasons are best seasons of Seinfeld. They hadn't hit their stride yet in the first couple seasons and Larry David wasn't around for the last couple years.
