    Very good compilation !!! Thanks a lot. Just a general query regarding the ALCO & EMD make locomotives. In most of the videos that i have seen in your channel, ALCOs are real smoke monsters while the EMDs relatively less smoky, even on steep gradient..why? To me, it appears that the ALCos are wasting a lot of fuel in the form of smoke..please enlighten me...

    • @supersaiyan3704
      @supersaiyan3704 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well to put it in simple words EMD >>> ALCO. EMD locos used in India are highly fuel efficient and powerful and are environment friendly unlike ALCO locomotives.

    • @supersaiyan3704
      @supersaiyan3704 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      lukebccb In 1962 GM-EMD supplied WDM4 locomotives. They were considered a potential alternative to the WDM-2 design from ALCO and were superior in many ways, but eventually the ALCO locomotives won as GM did not agree to a technology transfer agreement. So a considerable part of the diesel locomotives in Indian Railway were ALCOs and the same situation continues till date.

    • @tolykozin1
      @tolykozin1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that is the sad reality in India, almost every train has bars, almost every apartment in India has bars. It is the ugliest sight, really mars the beauty of the train as well as the city. Apparently everybody is about to steal your stuff even if u live on the 50th floor. This the reason why the whole city looks so bad. You will never ever find that on trains or in apartment buildings in the USA or Western Europe only in eastern europe and third world countries, the concept of beauty and gentrification is really absent. I went to a temple which was apparently restored, instead of using stone which was there originally they used marble and the whole beauty of the temple was negated with the newer white marble against the beautiful dark stone

    • @sadenb
      @sadenb 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why don't you stay in Europe and US ? Don't come to India. Safety first and aesthetics later.

      There have been a lot of cases of 'stone throwing' at various trains in India. The main culprits are the children and the youths of the various villages and slums which exist alongside the railway track who throw stones at the train to practice their bowling skills. All AC trains in particular have a lot of broken windows. Of late the Indian Railways is experimenting with 'Patthar Proof' glass, i.e. glass windows of a similar design to bullet proof glass. They have installed it in the Ultra Luxury trains - Maharajah's express, Palace on Wheels etc.
      The bars installed on the windows deflect stones off the train and prevent the passengers from being injured as the stones hurled at the train are of the size of a standard cricket ball, which due to its size, does not usually enter the train compartment. Of late, wire mesh windows are being installed on top of these barred windows as the aim of the wannabe bowlers is improving now a days...

    I got a super idea if its already not in existance. use walkie talkie on all engines and guard rooms and stations on same locked frequency, this way they can communicate when approaching stations or even if approaching other trains, say - aaj late ho gaya? sab theek aage??. khaya peeya??

    Why is an EOG required for premium trains? Are not they just like the normal express /mail trains in composition? (except LHB)

    • @TheRailzone
      @TheRailzone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Uday Pullela EOG's are required for any sort of a Train that runs with LHB coaches (Red ones)as they are not self powering , they are not fitted with any power supplying equipment's like battery boxes purposely to keep the coaches lightweight unlike the Blue ICF Coaches.

    What's the purpose of the green flag held out of the cab window in the station clips?

    • @Acevern
      @Acevern 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is to show that the way is clear and the train coming can go without a halt from opposite direction

    • @ij1001
      @ij1001 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, but isn't that the responsibility of the signalman?

    • @Acevern
      @Acevern 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes the pilot shows green flag to signalman and the signalman gets to know that the way from the train came is clear and if train comes he shows it is clear but if pilot shows red flag signalman comes to know that in the way some halts will come or the track is not clear.and signalman shows that flag to coming train for warning it for halts.If train continues without any signals there will be definitely lead to accidents so it is the duty of signalman to link with train signals and make sure they head their direction safely.......AND YOU ARE MOST WELCOME

    I have bad experience with rail if not going to popular places... It takes a train 3 days or more to travel from kolkata to bombay... Then think...and the accidents are another story, u travel with fear of life!

      Agree with you, Due to speed restrictions in the Indian Railway terrain, where trespassing happens almost every where, the maximum speed as of today is not more than 130 -140 KM/H , so they may not want to invest on new technology unless they address these issues first.
