Helene has a more internal fire, and takes a more “sing-y” approach, whereas Hiba is a lot more external about her portrayal, and showcases her acting through her voice. She also moves a lot more. Helene is more the silent storm, Hiba is more the thunderous storm. You also notice how different they are because of their PARTNER: Daniel. In the original, he’s a lot more subdued. In this revival, you see him get a lot more emotional as Frollo, and you see him move a lot more. Neither is better. The scene is just played in different ways.

You are absolutely right. There's nothing wrong with a more emotional Esmeralda. The problem is that she is truly a bad actress in this. I was truly disappointed because I really like her and her singing is always on point but her acting truly sucked. She overdoes everything, the screaming is exaggerated and sounds fake, she portrays zero sensuality or femininity even though she is more beautiful and younger than Helene. It loos like she hasn't understood her character. Her portrayal of Esmeralda is vulgar and her movements are almost animalistic. I mean 2.26 what the hell is that? The italian Esmeralda (the original cast, Lola Ponce) is the best for me. Her voice is surely much weaker than these two actresses', but her acting is amazing.

Why couldn't Helene Segara reprise her role? She was the best Esmeralda! :( Hiba sings well but her screams are awful. She needs some work on her acting.
She shouts sometime and her vocals are heavy, especially when it comes to high note, Helene has different voice, bright and light, but I'm sure that Hiba does her best here.

Perhaps it is the role, or perhaps she is not a singer for musical. When you watch Helene Segara you feel her as Esmeralda, even though her voice, to be honest, is much weaker. I don’t intend to insult anyone. Musicals are not for every one, no matter how good their sing or their voice is.
