Anyone who's ever been in deep knows how hard "Since you burned me at the stake all my feelings went away." hits. They also know how long it takes for that numbness to fade even after the next person enters your life. It took me 6 years to get that emotion back and 2 years into the new relationship. Great song both musically and lyrically.
So well captured. Love is such an extraordinary phenomenon. And songs like this highlight its complex glory.
