NHS uk hearing test audiologists said you will hear a noise, not a beep .She was in the same room as me so every slight noise she made i heard through the ear phones . At the end she said i was pressing the button all the time .
I hated these tests during my military service. During the test you end up thinking that you are hearing noises when they are not there! I found them a bit nervy as if you hearing was bad you could be discharged.
I know that this is not relevant to hearing, but the lady in the video has the most beautiful and slender hands! I was paying attention as I have hearing issues, but was distracted by the Audiologist's hands!!!

Ever experience getting a hearing test in a way that the audiologist will put you on a soundproof room with head set on and a hand remote and they tell you to push the button on the remote when you hear a sound.....and they did not tell you what type of sound you have to hear! And they scold you for not pressing the remote or press the remote button wrong
Hello, I currently work for the US DoD Hearing Center of Excellence. We are developing a hearing technician training and certification course. Your video is an excellent demonstration of how to conduct an AC test. Would it be possible for us to use your video in our online course as a demonstration? Sincerely, Kathy Gates
My audiology exam was completely different from this especially the first time that I had an audiology exam. There was no handheld button. And there were two different types of headphones and one type of ear plugs and instead of using a button I would either raise my hand or say yes when I heard the sound. Maybe my test was more involved initially because of what was suspected was my problem. I have tinnitus in only one ear and maybe that's why the hearing test was a little bit more involved the first time. His hearing test also didn't involve spoken words. The audiologist would speak a word and then I would have to repeat it. That wasn't part of his test. The second time I went to the audiologist it was similar to the first test but not as involved and the third time I went to the audiologist it was a different audiologist so she did it just a little bit differently. She inserted some kind of a tool inside of each ear to check how the eardrum vibrates to certain sounds and it would show up on her machine and I wouldn't have to do anything. Then it turned into a hearing test with the earplugs in both ears and then the bone conductor earphone. And initially there were sounds and then there were words that I had to repeat. The audiologist that I see is in the same office as the ENT doctor. So the audiologist already knows what my diagnosis is before she does the hearing test especially the second and third tests. The first test there was just a suspicion of a diagnosis. So now I have to go back to see the audiologist in order to try on hearing aid and to see if it's the right thing for me because I have tinnitus and a hearing loss. So I'm not sure how that appointment is going to go.
hi doctor, my brother has been suffering since 23 years hearing loss, inside the ear, there is sound like a dong dong , is there any treatment that returns back his hearing power? please help
dear/madam, I have problem of my ear from childhood. i cannot hear clearly. some time is correct. some time is very bad. give me any information please.
Nick D'Annunzio Well, you asked this question well before the Coronavirus was a thing. But today (25 August 2020) in NYC I had a hearing test very much like the one in the video and the audiologist absolutely used disposable gloves, double masks and a face shield. Times have definitely changed!
Not sure if anyone picks up and answers questions on here, but for people who have a sharp ski-slope audiogram (mine is 20dB @125Hz then 75dB @250Hz) why can't modern equipment test response at frequencies intermediate to the 'main' ones? Quality hearing aids can surely be fine-tuned to a more accurate audiogram then? Great video, thanks.
AGREE!!!! But from a different standpoint. I am an audiophile. That's a person whose hobby is listening to music. We usually have expensive high-quality stereo equipment. We get concerned about 3db inaccuracies spaning just 1/3 of an octave. So my question is if my HA's have 15 channels (15 separate bands of frequencies), why is my audiogram only testing 6-7?
@@davidcrandon2329 Fair point. I too have always been an appreciator of music; in fact sounds/ voices generally and my family are good mimics. It's rather like 'blind' people who always had an eye for detail.... I suspect that the main reason is simply commercial: time=money/ longer hearing tests=fewer patients per audiologist per day/ recruit and train more people=more funding.... There might be technical constraints in many HAs, but as you say for those high-end HAs with the most channels and meatiest processors, more granular programming must already be possible.
This video very useful but i interested more otoscope. can you give me information about otoscope(model name, produced company...) which you used in this video. Thank you very much.
No, tympanometry is to test your middle ear function, how well your eardrum is moving. The pure tone audiometry, the part where you hear a series of beeps at different loudness (dBHL) is the one that determines your hearing threshold at different frequencies (pitches).
Recep KIR öncelikli olarak testlerinizi yaptırmanızı tavsiye ederim. İşitme cihazından fayda görebilirse önerirler ancak hava yolu ile duymuyorsanız implanta yönlendirirler diye düşünüyorum. Doktor-odyologlara başvurmanızı tavsiye ederim.

The last time I was in an audiogram I swear that I heard more tones and beeps that were not there.

@Screwdriver440 but what type of sound are they expecting us to hear?! A static sound of what?
Right ear thresholds are marked as red round. And left ear thresholds as blue cross.
She's using insert receivers ( the yellow form things ), yet on the audiogram it says phone ( Short for headphones )
Any double hearing?

I suspect the reason they cut away from the patient during the tympanometry test, is because it's quite uncomfortable to say the least.
It's not too bad! I've had it done once or twice. It's more startling than anything.
