  • Leave it to Domonique Foxworth to be the one to lead Dan into the most vulnerable conversation he's ever had on air. Domonique joins Dan in a cathartic discussion about finding love late in life, breaking down masculinity, the struggles to find joy, and what kind of legacy he hopes to leave behind. Thanks to Domonique, this is the Dan you've always wanted to know...

One of the best sessions on the show I’ve heard in all my years listening. I’ve shared this with numerous male friends who are all similar ages and successful in their careers, but still struggle with all the vulnerabilities talked about. Thank you for this.

It's incredibly refreshing to hear other men discuss their partners and relationships like this. So often we only talk about how good our partners are at things we dont like to do or are bad at. (She's such a great cook!, etc etc). I was lucky enough to listen to this with my partner on a road trip and it was just a phenomenal hour of podcast radio.

Dominique's and Dan's remarks regarding having to take care of their parents really hit home for me. I definitely share their sentiments. While you expect it, it does come at you, surprisingly, fast. Great session from Dan and Dominique. Thank you for sharing.

I think Domonique brings up an interesting point around the idea that Dan has ultimately achieved his measure of success. Dan seems to be wanting to continue his development of others even more strictly on his own terms without an uncontrollable corporation threatening his people. Maybe he can forge a place of unwaivering self acceptance that is free to share the brilliant voices of its people like what he facilitated for Dominique, Mina, Bomani, Sarah, Israel and others.

As much as I appreciate the vulnerability because I actually love this latest evolution of SBS. The cutting when it gets vulnerable, I didn’t like. When Fox says he’s not free and it just cuts, THAT’S the answer I want. That’s the vulnerability I want from Dan

"Close to God"... that's one phrase that dominates my mind more and more as i get older, with the stable belief (hence hope) that God IS Love, while acknowledging my lack of full understanding of who God is..
The belief that God is Love has been tested, with having suffered loss and injury to mind, body, heart, and more. but the belief is resilient, still alive and well within me.
and my only concern these days is, it requires stronger and stronger faith to preserve it, so like building a muscle, I must exercise my belief in responding to it with action.
By applying what I do understand of love.
It is my belief that the love in God, is truly, literally, so awesome (jaw-dropping, soul snatching) as to demand a singular, loyal devotion.
Jesus is Love, I believe, both God and man (mysteriously).
He gives men and women power over the lesser gods, those that seem to have the devotion of our country's leaders..
It is also my belief that Jesus came roughly 2200 years ago to reveal the way to draw closer to the God of love, and away from the old ways, the older, lesser gods. To free us to love, and to set others free to do the same.
    Indiscriminately.
Admittedly, those other lesser rulers of my heart/mind that are truly intolerant of God's: humility,
    his gentleness,
    kindness,
    self-control,
    hatred for injustice,
    lack of envy,
    patience,
    his delight in truth.
and these lesser gods of deceit arrive at the metaphorical doorstep of my mind everyday, like wolves dressed as lambs or beautiful and dressed like kings..
These lesser gods are oppressive, would have me cherish lesser ideals or deceive me with visions rooted in lesser, loveless wisdom.
Hope that Dan, the shipping container, Dominique, the fancy lad, stu, and there listener's, like myself, might draw close to God... and Art Briles too 😉

    • @KaoriKorazon19
      @KaoriKorazon19 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Amen. The moment he said "close to God" i said out loud "Precisely - bc a man is to love his wife the way God/Jesus loves the Church, His bride - be willing to give his life" (...esp if in all my strength & independence I am expected to be Prov 31 😉). It shouldn't be a revelation. That love should give off celestial. Nothing in this life is devoid of God's design (aside from iniquity), no matter how much the world tries to spin it.
Absolutely luv Dom & his contributions 👏🏿👏🏿 The exemplary truths are so necessary. And shoutout to Dom's parents.
Tangent: Reminds me Troy Polamalu's HOF speech - one of the best - where he told his boys the best thing he can do for them is to love their mother - his wife. It is so true, so virtuous. God is Love.
Correlate this to the SAS interview and his views of his father treating his mother poorly. Makes all the logical sense.
I only listened to these sessions bc it was Dom & SAS. Good job gentlemen.
