- Welcome to my brand NEW podcast, 'Life of an Artrepreneur', where I'll be talking about making your creative hobby into a career, merging art and entrepreneurship together, to be a successful artist in the real world.
In this first episode, I talk about my background, journey, and how it's lead me to become a full time artist, something which I never thought was possible in the beginning, especially after studying Fine Art at University.
I still can’t believe that I do this full time. I never thought that it was even possible in the beginning and I’ve just been riding the wave, taking every opportunity possible and making opportunities for myself. Theres so many things I wish I knew when starting out, like how there is SO many avenues to go to down to make a very good income as an artist.
I want ‘Life of an Artrepreneur’ to be relatable, motivating, eye opening and a weekly boost of positivity. Eventually I’d love to have conversations with other artists too, to hear their journeys and feel inspired.
I'm so excited for this and to get stuck into the world of podcasting!
Thank you for all your support, I'm so grateful.

Loved this first episode Becca! You’re such an inspiration and a joy to listen to 🥰🤍
oh hi Shannon! Im subscribed to you too!
Thank you so much 🥰🤗
Thank you, Becca ❤ love your work. I was told I was rubbish at art over 50 years ago, then last year decided to try pencils.
I love them and have sold 3 portraits . Thank you Becca it was a great podcast ❤xx
Oh that’s amazing Caroline! I’m glad you found your love for pencils 🥰 thanks for listening to the podcast! 🥰
This was lovely, inspiring, funny at times and just very informational, congratulations on your first episode Becca! Xx Flor
Thanks for watching Flor I really appreciate it! 🤗🤍 xxx
Thank you for sharing your journey. I am looking forward to hearing more about your experiences as I am just starting out as an artist.
I love listening to other artist experiences and advice.
Thank you for listening! Hopefully I can share more information and advice in future episodes that you’ll find helpful 🥰 Very exciting though that you’re starting out as an artist!
A brilliant first episode, packed full of info and advice. So interesting listening to your journey and how you stayed true to your artistic ideals despite your uni experience. I was put off studying art when as a 16 year old in 1976 I was offered a place at Leeds College of Art at the peak of the punk rock movement. I ran for the hills when I saw their artwork haha! Thank you for sharing your story and your beautiful art, your hard work is paying off.
Thank you so much for listening and for your lovely comment, I appreciate it so much ❤ Leeds college of art is where I went, when I was there they changed to name to ‘leeds art uni’, but I totally get you, very abstract 🤣 Episode 3 is going to be ‘Realism vs Conceptual Art’ which I think will be great to talk about 🤗
I also like your voice very much. It is really a very kind voice to listen to your guidance on painting techniques while watching your pet teaching! Like it very much! I'm from Taiwan, thank you for your painting guidance on patreon!
😊😊😊😊
Love it Becca!! Can't wait for more :)
Thank you for watching Caitlin 🥰❤️
Loved this - thank you- 😊
Thank you watching!! ❤
This was so encouraging to listen to! I had the same experience with fine art in school - I didn't like that contemporary/abstract art was forced and that my preferred style or skillset was overlooked because the curriculum was focused on symbolism and not skill. I wanted to draw what I found beautiful and exciting. I am currently working on making my art a business and am literally starting from ground zero. Your podcast was so lovely to listen to and I gained some valuable insights. Thank you so much for putting your thoughts out there. Excited for the next episode! 🧡
I’m so glad you relate!! I feel like a lot of people had a similar experience. In episode 3 (which will be live a week on Wednesday), I talk about ‘Realism vs Conceptual art’ and talk about all this way more in depth! Appreciate your lovely feedback, thanks again for listening 🥰🤍
Absolutely loved this! More please
Thank you!! ☺️ every week x
Hi Becca!
Loved this Becca, it was so interesting to hear about your journey. I’m just starting out trying to sell my work and I’ve only just recently started to draw with coloured pencils. Previously I was a watercolour artist (and still am to a certain extent) but have had to diversify because of ill health. However, I find that with drawing, this is something I can do anywhere and it really helps to relieve pain! So I will be listening in each week with interest to hear what you have to say 😊
Thank you so much for listening Sarah. I adore watercolours 😍 I have a painting background but I always gravitated back to coloured pencils, so much less mess and like you said, you can take them anywhere! 🤗
Congratulations on your first episode! Really enjoyed listening to how it all began for you and I'm excited to hear more each week. I am just starting out and juggling my love for drawing with a full time job. Always listening to podcasts. Would love to know your recommendations. Yours being number 1 of course :)
Amazing! So glad you enjoyed my first episode 🤗 my second episode is out today! Thank you so much for listening. Ooo my favourite podcasts, that’s a good question. I have such a range, I like a few business podcasts like ‘Diary of a CEO’ or ‘Modern wisdom’, I love true crime so I listen to ‘Red Handed’ on a Thursday 😂 and for more of a chilled funny podcast, I love ‘Newly Weds’ 🤗
This is why I did not go beyond A-level in art. I got enough of a bad taste of it there so I knew Uni would be worse. I know a few that did art degrees and didn't enjoy them as they were just being pressured to stop doing what they loved and into doing something that meant nothing to them.
The process is also what many people forget about also. They forget that it is important for realists the actual working on the piece and not just the final result. They say to just stick a photo on the wall instead so clearly not thinking about the importance of the process...
You’re so so right!! Really well said and I totally agree with you. Next week I’m doing an episode on ‘Realism vs conceptual art’ which talks about this way more in depth. I feel like so many of us realism artists relate, the process is just as important sometimes as the finished thing ☺️
@@beccabarronart I made a video about realism and didn't hold back lol...probably upset a few haha....we call a spade a spade in Yorkshire..
its funny I used to get like only art things from people on my birthdays too!😄 I had gotten so much I ended up being kind of tired of it, had everything I needed haha
Hahaha I totally get that! It was great experimenting with all the arts and crafts sets and gifts as a youngster though ☺️🤗
@@beccabarronart yeah, it was fun😊
Oh I get the comments about my voice too and also feel the same as you...and I sound even broader with my thick yorkshire accent haha....I think people find it a nice change listening to anything other than American lol...
Yorkshire! Yes you’ll be even broader than me, two northerners! 🙏🏼🤗
