I'm surprised you didnt mention smokebombs as an alternative to flash pods for getting Kush out of the air. Once you're in the smoke and break Kush's line of sight it'll be compelled to land and you'll probably get a nice opening out of it for a flinch shot or a hit.
Toaster! My favorite. One thing alot of people tend to miss on their hunt with him is that his nova is small. It isn't cross map reaching and he telegraphs it extremely to you so dodging it even without evade window is easy
I think its the PTSD from how large his nova was in prior games. That thing killed off my entire hunting party more times than I wanna remember, so I really can't blame folks for being cautious with Teo.
So a very very important tip I didn't hear is kushala loses his wind aura if he is poisoned, and given how easy he gets poisoned you can shut down the aura a lot of the fight, however I don't know if this still works when he enrages or on tempered but its worked on every hunt I've gone on. So merry hunting!
Thought I'd make a comment about the wind pressure skills/songs in regards to Kush boy. Because our little Kush Kush is a speshul boy, when he gets enraged, his wind aura gets so high that even nullify wind pressure level 5 does nothing. The only things that counter it are the set bonus from his armor set, and the hunting horn song you mentioned. He is the only monster with this kind of ability.
This is one of those fights that I love in high rank and absolutely hate in g rank. I’ve known well enough to stay away from a solo quest in g rank, and I’ve fought him once with randoms. It was surprisingly fun, even though I could barely hit him and eventually we carted too much and failed the quest.
Another great video. Love this series and glad its back. Also I believe the small tornadoes that move are easily noticed because they have like petals/crystals in them that glow and when they touch the bigger tornadoes they suddenly expand and do more damage. I think the main point is still stay far away from the tornadoes.
Kushala is actually pretty easy for me. I'd recommend a good Thunder or Dragon Bow with Windproof, or if you have them, the Kushala armor pieces to nullify pressure, as it seems to work on your arrows to an extent as well, plus then you can still attack when he's in the air, however that setup was before the clawshot nation.
Kushala is personally one of my favorite fights. I fought it with a bow specifically to counter the wind that it surrounds itself with, and I loved the complete chaos of tornadoes and wind blasts everywhere. Easily one of my favorite fights in any game.

I've tried wind resist 5 on Kushala. Near as I can tell there's literally no advantage over WR3: The tornadoes still get you. However, one perk of WR 3 is that with being able to mostly ignore the wind armor you can take non-dragon weapons since the main thing elderseal does is turn down the wind armor. EDIT: Just tried it with WR3 and there was no effect whatsoever so THAT'S DUMB. Why is Wind Resist and level 2 decoration, again? My main gripe with the fight is that the hit boxes are jank. Not as jank as Barioth, but it's still like KD is wearing comically oversized boxing gloves on its front legs. And all of its attacks-ALL OF THEM-either knock you down or knock you down and back.

The jokes are great when you have been playing monster Hunter since the 3rd westernized installment. Wind is my brothers favorite element. I see a Gabe notification I must immediately click on the Gabe notification! Kush was my brick wall especially being a Hunting Horn user but once you get the required melodies Kush becomes a relative doddle.
I wouldn't have noticed that little green dot on the bottom right until you mentioned it. Now i'm glancing down at it more often than i look at the minimap in RTS games.
Blast hammer is amazing against Kushala (specially solo), I used Raging Brachy hammer. If you are decent with hammer (or start with a flinch shot) you can make him waile, then get him stunned, then flinch wailing again. Amazing long window of damage and once he gets up he will be a few strickes away from another stunn.
Use the neutral recitals instead of the forward one, also the Superpound attack always prioritys the head so you dont have to Reposition yourself everytime you have a chance to land a hit.
Honestly, when fighting Kushala, (I'm using only Switch axes my play through), I tried to exploit his Thunder element weakness and just focussed on defence considering he didnt seem to do any type of elemental damage. Skills like health, attack, and defence boost are good. As well as other skills I cant remember. Dont forget thunder attack to absolutely wreck him. But yeah he was tough even with all of that.
I think it's worth mentioning but there's a few more tricks to Kushy that may also help with it, one thing is that a flinch from a crystal burst is actually capable of knocking it's aura out for a little, it's really short but with the slinger re-works it may be useful. Also ranged weapons need to aim for either the tail, head, or wings if Kushy is throwing a temper tantrum since it's body will deny the shots. Oh and it's head 'can' be broken but Kushy himself needs to be below a certain HP threshold similar to toaster. Apparently it was like that in older games and they decided to keep it that way.
