I made this recipe tonight, with modifications, and it was delicious! I replaced the chickpea flour with almond flour. Instead of dredging in cornstarch, I used arrowroot powder (I’m following a Low Acid protocol right now.) Put the tofu in the air fryer, and it came out nice and crispy: about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through @ 350 degrees. Made the sauce, replacing the garlic, sugar, and soy sauce with fresh ginger, maple syrup, and tamari (again, low acid). It thickened up nicely once in the pan with the cooked tofu (which became less crispy, but very flavorful! I think, next time, I will stop cooking once the tofu is crunchy from air frying, and make, perhaps, a nice peanut sauce for dipping😊. Either way, we have Irene to thank for this terrific recipe!!

Too bad this recipe uses a lot of oil. Our doctor put us on an oil free diet (or as low as possible) 😒
