Guy Clark, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan. What a deadly trio.
Absolutely one of the happiest songs ever written.....
Guy Clark was one of the greats. Losing him was a loss for us all.
Every single down vote have some real issues with life itself. I hope your world gets better.
Shit, I felt bad unliking it, just to like it twice!
They are the "un-lightened" ones...
They don't know, what they don't know... yet!
true story. 👍👍
And i do hope that they'll be able to make themselves some tomato soup to cry into..
@@MtgCoach Just give them time (& we can show them the light, but it's up to them to turn their head to look at it..
This is the song that introduced me to Guy Clark.
Nearly 40 years later, still love him.
The coolest upright bass player ever!
My wife, the "Tomatolady" loved this song, and here garden.
Great song. So True! And I love a bassist who would slow dance with his bass...
Edgar Meyer on the bass rocks everything!
It looked a little more serious…
One of the best songs ever written!
Love this song and miss Guy Clark. (John Denver loved this song, too.)
Ol' Guy was in his prime, and at the top of his game.............
Edgar Meyer is the master of integrating humour and music.
I wish he'd played with John Duffy, there would have been a whole lot of goofy hip-shakin"!
Can't believe there are those who don't like this song and his performance of it. Well, I can believe it but it's a sad commentary on our world.
Great writer and singer.
Maybe novelty. But absolute geniuses novelty songwriting. He and Prine used wordplay like no one else. Homegrown Tomatoes is brilliantly disguised to sound like a clever , catchy little song, , when at its core, it’s a carefully constructed, piece of lyric writing. Don’t think so? Try writing one.
U got that right never be another Clark or Prine.
Hank set the bar with "Cold, Cold Heart". You can't alter a syllable or change the meter even a whit without collapsing the whole structure of the song. It seems like a mindless little ditty, but I bet Hank worked on that one for quite some time.
The master…. Proud to have called him a friend and drinking buddy and dart partner!!
♥️
I remember when this song first came out Guy Clark was an amazing Songwriter
❤Tom Frye you first turned me onto this song, years and years ago. I haven’t thought about you or this song for a while, but right now I got sweet, sweet smile
RIP Guy and John right now there having Homegrown Tomatoes!!!
I love Guy
A true love song
Love his music! Especially Dublin Blues and Stuff that Works!
Edgar Meyer on bass, nice surprise…
Nothing better than my garden tomatoes.
So True. Passion in gardening.
Nothing like it, the time spent in a garden cannot be matched.
I’d like to hear the story behind the writing of that song!
I'd like to know what Townes song he's talking about?
Wished I had one, only one
Woohoo!
What was the TVZ song he was talking about?
Hey man you made this comment 4 years ago, but it was "To Live is To Fly"
"GRAINGER COUNTY TENNESSEE "
staring my tomatoes now
I wonder which Townes song he played...?

Just two things its true
That Stuart Duncan on fiddle?
Nevermind, stuck around till the end
Turg
Turg
David Spade on the fiddle
Guy seemed to think he was Stuart Duncan. ;-)
@@virginiabush7223 yes, it's Stuart Duncan. Really juicy and tasty tomatoes interventions he's makin'
0:17 Don't get a hardon
was that intentionally misspelled? - hardun is probably correct
Kinda get a feelin' he isn't just singin 'bout tomatoes...
You must be buying em from the store
Yes he is
Ben Lutz
I agree! You cannot beat a big ole homegrown tomato 🍅!
👍🌈💜💥
You ain't John denver baby
you're right... guy is by far the superior songwriter... though i admit denver did write some great songs ...without guy, john would not have been able to record the song... though i hear some idiot journalist did give denver credit for writing the song
You're right. Comparing John Denver to Guy Clark is like comparing a kindergarten student to someone with a masters degree.
Thank god!
Thank God
@@georgehappler9862 oh you've said that already.
