Govinda is a legend. No doubt about it. I feel he failed to change with changing times. There was a sudden shift in the audience taste with movies like Lagaan, Dil Chahta hai, Hera-Pheri, onset of multiplex in the 2000s, etc. Unfortunately Govinda continued with the same content which somehow lost appeal. A similar shift has begun now with OTT driving more content. Even the Khans are scratching their heads. Probably they are looking to adapt and change too. Unfortunately for Govinda the shift was too soon and the adaption never happened. Even now he is in the same zone going by the content he releases in his youtube channel. However, as a 90s kid will forever be a Chi Chi fan. Govinda-David dhawan phase can never be recreated.
Don't say khans man. Aamir has been the reason of change for three decades. Dude was doing tapoori acts in rangeela to performances with zero fluff in sarfaroosh in 90s, had the best filmography in 00s of any actor and did dangal in 10s. Govinda needed more versatility, barely any of his movies have aged well that you dont cringe today.

I was travelling from Dehradun to Delhi and co- incidentally Mr. Aashish Vidyarthi was in the same flight ...i was trying to put my cabin baggage in the overhead bin when he turned around and helped me with it ..that's when I recognised him . Then in the bus ride people were trying to take selfie with him...he got a little annoyed ( afterall even celebs need privacy) . But there too he offered me a seat since I was standing...a thorough gentleman!
I think the problem is not him being the main lead but the content of the movie and age of the character, he can easily be main lead with middle age character of professor like shahruk khan In Dear Zindagi movie. Or successfully businessman with a wife and children, all he has to do is to avoid playing characters young than 40 years, he could also still use his iconic dance but in more settled way not dancing on street with 20 years old girl, He needs to learn from Mohanlal who is even older than him but still does many great movies as a lead actor because he always plays characters around his age

I was travelling from Dehradun to Delhi and co- incidentally Mr. Aashish Vidyarthi was in the same flight ...i was trying to put my cabin baggage in the overhead bin when he turned around and helped me with it ..that's when I recognised him . Then in the bus ride people were trying to take selfie with him...he got a little annoyed ( afterall even celebs need privacy) . But there too he offered me a seat since I was standing...a thorough gentleman!

I think the problem is not him being the main lead but the content of the movie and age of the character, he can easily be main lead with middle age character of professor like shahruk khan

Delhi University top kiya tha teeno saal sirf Govinda ki movies exam time me dekh ke...course to session start ke 3 mahine me khatm karta tha raat din padh ke...exam me mood mast rahe.. Govinda ki film dekhta tha iss liye.. Vidhyarthi jinka Drohkal bhi Dekha tha usi exam ke time me 1995 me regal me...kya zabardast film thi.
