I have made a couple of USB-C cable kits consisting of a USB-C cable, and a bunch of small adapters for USB A -> C, C -> Mini B, C -> Micro B, C -> full size B, C -> Lightning. They are almost universal and quite compact. I have one of those cables, an older 10Ah power bank, headlight, and a Quancheng UV-K5 in my backpack.
Yeah! I’ve got one of those slim Jim antennas with the same radio. BIG improvement over anything you’d normally see stuck to an HT, and it’s easy to carry.
At Summer Field Day 2019 I came up with a near identical setup. I was using a one size down Maxpedition pouch which held a then new OpenSpot 2 and a Yaesu FT-70. Also had my cell phone in there, with a power bank. Basically it gave a full on the go C4FM rig, along with a write in the rain pad and space pen (for logging). I EDC'ed it for a good while, and used it for C4FM in the car. I'd molle attach it to a Maxpedition Lunada bag. I got out of C4FM when the solar cycle started picking up and dove into HF (stopped going out much during the Covid stuff). It's good to see other people come up with a similar system - I'm a very big fan of Maxpedition gear!
I have something similar for my edc bag but it’s a sling pack with my Yaesu ft 70. I added a VF comms roll up fara-j antenna. I will add the Ed fong roll up antenna when it’s back in stock on your website.. Enjoy the channel thanks for sharing!!!73
Yeah, that's a purse. 😂 Thanks for the tip on the power bank...heckuva deal at 50% off. Hope I did the right link for you to get credit. 73, Brett K5WXP
Maxpedition does make very nice and sturdy bags. High quality standards. You can find similar & cheaper bags but if zippers or stitching fails, then how much did you save? Buy once, cry once.
The bag I carry to work everyday and have carried for the last 12 years is a Maxpedition Kodiak Gearslinger. Hands down the best backpack I've ever owned. Hardly showing any signs of wear or tear even though it is well used. I take it to work with me and on travel. As long as I don't stuff it too full, it fits nicely under an airline seat too. I also have some Eberlestock equipment as well that I use for field day which carries ALL of my radio gear. Eberlestock tends to be a bit more expensive that Maxpedition, but I'd also recommend them as well. They have some nice pouches and EDC bags if Maxpedition is sold out. Both companies are top notch though and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from either.
I have a small bag I keep in the car with some radio stuff in it, but I don't know that I'd call it an EDC since I never take it out. It's not much, but it's really only there in case I need it and my mobile antenna on my car isn't quite good enough to get a signal out. I keep a roll up Ed Fong j-pole, a 17' piece of feed line, a ton of coax adapters, and a couple different USB cables along with Velcro cable ties, some arborist line and a throw weight. I also have a 12' fiberglass pole that collapses down to about 4' I keep behind the back seat if there aren't any trees. I don't keep a flashlight in that bag, but I do have a USB rechargeable Olight hard mounted in the glove box and plugged in to a 12v-USB adapter, so it's always charged. Keeping an HT in the bag with a power brick would be a great idea so I don't have run my car battery down to run my mobile radio. I'd almost like to get a LiFePO battery to keep in the car full time, just not convinced on that yet since it gets so hot here. The only spare HT's I have at the moment are a BTech and a couple of Baofeng's. I don't know that I'd want to leave my Anytone in there.
Nice set up. I keep similar bags for my HTs, with yours being closest to the one in my truck being for the TH-D72 I keep there. The only things I would add would be a small note pad (as noted in other comments), and a packing list of everything kept in the bag (I would put it in one of the Ziplocs in the outside pocket of your bag). I have packing lists for for my go box, go bag, the "EDC" in the truck, and my CERT Kit. Copies of each list on my phone. Makes it easy to find what bag I packed a certain widget in, and also allows someone else to find something in your bag/box (say during an ARES SET and you have them go grab something from it). 73 de KAØAZS
The new "Fara-J", roll up antenna would easily fit in a small bag like this. Versus my home brewed Ed Fong, roll up J-Pole antenna. It takes me, more room to safely coil up, and place into a small bag. Because I don't like pinching / crimping the copper wire of that antenna.
Where can I find the USB/FT5 charging cord? Thank you. Love this video. Hope all those links are affiliate links because I just bought a bunch of stuff. Thanks
Ordered power bank right after seeing this video. It’s awesome. Plus right now there’s a 1 time 50% off Amazon is doing. Made it 18 buck.
Yep

I have a similar bag for my ft-65r, I added a roll up j-pole and digirig for APRS and other digital modes.
I have another bag like that too, probably make a video about that one soon

@@blueboy1183 The Fara-J antenna is a great antenna for its small & packable size, and it is tuneable! The Ed Fong antenna works real good... Also!

I respectfully disagree. That's not a purse. It's a murse. Aka man bag. 😂.
Love most of the Maxpedition products.
Hard to kill.
Have one back pack that has been in over 11 countries.
Yep
Got my mystery box. That oknife is absolutely slick. It’ll be included in my EDC bag. Thank you!!
Great carry bag. I would add one of them right on everything waterproof pens and a small note pad . easy slip into that bag. 73
N9TAX Slim Jim antenna is something I like to carry for HT now.
just grabbed the power bank off amazon via your link. I was able to get a 50% coupon redeemed from Amazon on the item, shut up and sit down indeed!
Awesome

I wish Anker sold one of those power bricks with Anderson powerpole connector next to the USB-C PD port.
Great bag, great video, tnx man!
I would personally have a second radio battery in an EDC but great video!
A bigger battery on the Kenwood would rock. If you have any connections 😉.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks!
Glad you liked it.

Haha, I am always rethinking mine!
I have the $45. Skull Vib sling. You had a product from them on the PackMan channel.
No ed Fong antenna??
Not in this bag, no.

I also include a Leatherman and a small notepad.

@@HamRadio2 I have the 2m model. And its pretty dang awesome! Plus you can tune it, which Ed Fong's ladder line antenna cannot do... yet!
W0AEZ battery for the win.
Were you able to get one? Shows sold out when I went on. Thanks

No signal stick ant?
The only thing missing in my opinion is a backup cigar cutter.

iam not a amateur radio user but I would use the bag for my gmrs or murs use.😅
I have a GMRS bag also
I'd like to see all the ham TH-camrs steal this video idea. Haha
It's kind of sad that a cell phone replaces this 99.9% of the time.
LOL, apparently you have never driven through Utah or Wyoming.
The bag is out of stock!
Amazon?
They come and go. Check the Maxpedition website too.
Just bought mine on Amizon a few minutes ago
They do BOGO on the Maxpedition website quite often on bags and packs. Looks like a miscellaneous % off right now.
