  • America's urban landscape has undergone a significant transformation over the past few decades. Cities that were once celebrated as beacons of affordability and vibrancy, offering the American dream to the working class, have increasingly become playgrounds for the wealthy. This shift has been marked by skyrocketing rents, the gentrification of neighborhoods, and the proliferation of luxury developments, sidelining the needs and affordability concerns of the average citizen. Amidst this backdrop of urban change, an audacious plan emerges from an unexpected quarter: Oklahoma City. The city proposes the construction of Legends Tower, a project that ambitiously aims to erect the tallest building in the United States. This plan is not just about breaking records; it's a statement, signaling a possible new direction for American cities looking to reinvent themselves in the face of modern challenges.

The tower reaching its full hight is not only better than the short version in the long run, but the short run too, it will drive more people to build towers next to it for easy recognition will will lead to a better skyline, more tourism, and a bigger population.
This building only provides benefits, the only downside is what it does to the skyline. There is zero downsides besides that, it’s ups outweighs its downs ten fold.

This project will never happen. Atlanta builds a 60 story tower once every ten years. They hold 1million square feet of leasable area that floods the market which means you only build one when you have a strong need for real estate. ATL has a metro population of 6 million and is a rapidly growing city. Its current largest structure under construction is 60 floors. OKC has a metro population of 1 million and is growing at 1% per year. This proposal would add 2 million square feet for the tower alone. This would flood the real estate market that it would tank the area.

OKC is one of the fastest growing cities in America, it was 6th from 2020-22 and was one of only 14 cities to grow 100k from 2010-2020- OKC is also getting tons of of developments already, it’s getting about 10+billion dollar of developments, its the 5th hottest job market rn, and is stated to have the most potential out of any us city, not only would this work if built but the developer already has the money to build it.
OKC is down 3000+ hotels and is in need of tons of more housing, and this building has both of those.

When do you people realize that money has nothing to do with development question mark if the government says that cities gonna be valuable that means the city is vipe if the government says the city is no longer valuable that means it no longer vipe how do they control this they moved jobs to where they want them to be it's that simple...

OKC? Nothing against OKC but this is a building for Las Vegas, Denver, or Miami.

All of the places you named have smaller buildings than OKC, besides Miami.

@@richardgrobertson5293 the only place you said that made more sense was Las Vegas, because of the weird stuff they build, it would have the most success in OKC for multiple reasons that I can address for you.
