We only have one donor area that has a limited amount of grafts.. you should have said that the transplanted hair is permanent but you didnt. Depending on the stage, donor area condition, type of hair loss, genetic background, and individual expectations of the patient.
As of today specifically for Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) Hair transplant remains the only Permanent solution for HAIR LOSS AREAS (Not miniaturization).
The hair we take from the donor area is not affected by the effects of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) - main reason for AGA. BUT you can still lose transplanted hair if they are taken from outside of the SAFE DONOR ZONE/AREA. Not only the donor area, but the area of the donor is of key importance.
Shock loss is a temporary phenomenon that may happen in both recipient and the donor area. So when we talk about any form of shock loss, we literally mean a TEMPORARY hair loss. Permanent hair loss is a completely different aspect.
Hairloss most of the time stops over a period of time. It is different for everyone. Some people may start with hair loss in their early twenties, and by mid-twenties or early thirties they become bald and it stops; for someone, it may start in their early thirties and stop in their early forties, and so on. But we know, at some point it stops. It doesn't last forever. We still do not exactly know why it happens differently. Most probably due to the polymorphism of the genes that code the hair loss areas.
A hair transplant is needed to "FIX" the hair, that you have lost forever (hair follicles are "gone"). It is the only solution for the areas of NO HAIR GROWTH. But it is very important to keep the hair that you still have "alive" as well. For this reason, we need medical treatment. So actually they complement each other. And we should consider them together: Surgical (if needed) + Medical treatment.
