I actually recently extended the competition by 2 weeks so you're not late at all and you've been entered into the competition!! I'm holding off on listening to the covers until the competition closes so I'm excited to listen to this in about 2 weeks! :)
the stylistic choices you made are super interesting! (distorting the inst, leaving out the vocals at the end, etc.) I can tell you had a vision for this cover and really made it your own, I think it paid off. good luck on the contest too!
Honestly I still imagine kokichi with this voice, at least for the non-voiced lines. The only characters i always imagine with the VAs voice are Byakuya and Gundham (and Gundham's VA played through DR2, so technically, almost all of Gundham's lines have been voices)
Honestly, this is ten times better than the original in my book. It’d be cool to see the video play out with similar editing, with the screen shaking about and Kokichi’s sprite changing. The singing feels more followable while keeping the chaotic vibe.
I wasn't expecting in the vid with 13 comments one would have a pfp of One Sin. My friend suggested this vid to be a theme for an OC nugget from Library of Ruina who is, well a liar lol
this cover was completely breathtaking!! it made me feel so much, and is one of the few songs that i can say have given me chill-bumps. you did really well and i wish i had voted for you, buuuut i accidentally voted earlier. i regret that, because this is by far the best option!!
*D.I.C.E.* thanks you. And on behalf of the legitimately-elected President of Russia... Those last few extra lines and thoughts really hit a liar where he lives. _Uso dayo~_ Oumagod...
Oi this came out wonderfully Bea!! Don’t understand why you would need to temper yourself otherwise :p Definitely noticed the effort put into vocals, Solaria comes off very strong and clear with your pitching. Especially loved how the chorus was mixed in, really cool effect! Awesome choice of song to cover too, the distorted baseline instrumental creates a striking dynamic with your vocals. Curious what you’ve been adjusting in your mixing process behind the scenes, mentioned some tips had helped with this in particular? Looking forward to what you come up with next!
Ooh, main takeaways from this project have been frequency isolation/removal in the mix via EQ and vocal doubling effects, manual and by plugin. I found the vocals felt a bit thin for the longest time and just sat on top of the instrumental. I ended up cutting frequencies around 4k and 700 to make room for the vocal tracks, then about 30% separation for the doubling effect (and I tried to do it manually with the takes feature, but it wasn't as successful this time around). Part of it was also lowering the instrumental volume to hear the vocals without destroying its integrity, you know? What was really fun on this one is the variation you can do with vocal modes (things like Soft and Strong, which are just two of Solaria's) to get different tone qualities, which helped differentiate the chorus from the main verse and allows for more expression in the voice. They're on sliders in the current versions of SynthV, and can be adjusted with curves like the pitch. The curves I drew are a bit funky-looking, but they work in tandem really nicely. Thank you so much for checking it out!
Frequency isolation is super helpful for auditory readability! Same concept applies to keeping game audio mixed so important cues have their own ranges to stand out to the ear, for all the modifications you were doing vocally the larger range pays off well. Can imagine those curves do a lot to create a more continuous variation of tone with tight level of control. Would be interesting to see how those correlate to the end result TBH - them being funky looking tells me you spent quite a bit of intention getting the effect to be what you wanted. Appreciate the insight!@@spontaneousglitterbees
God DAMN is Solaria such a good vocal synth! I thought this was a normal cover before i looked at the title! Anyway, to my looping playlist it goes so i csn listen to this masterpiece over and over again until it makes me physically sick to listen to it.

Wowie, if I didn’t know better, I’d swear that’s Kokichi’s Voice. (If the games had no VA’s)
Honestly I still imagine kokichi with this voice, at least for the non-voiced lines.

woahhh its so good probably the best cover of this out there (seriously the pronunciation is so clear! :0)
