His experience is pretty unique he loves Joel but didn't have the same time commitment as og fans. Joel was gang to us it didn't matter if he was right or wrong we picked our side and it was Joel and Ellie. So the expectation of 9 years to see them again only to play as his killer for half the game was crazy. I agree with jetts take that this should have been a Tommy and Ellie game. A lot of us didn't care about Abby and actively disliked her because of how they showed things.

Spoilers For Abby, there's the side of her that will fight through a burning down village in the middle of a war and beat Joel and Ellie to bloody pulps, and the side of her that sacrifices her safety and position in the WLF to save the lives of some Scar kids she meets, and spares the life of the person who hunted her down and killed her friends.
@@karlwilker579 spoilers as well Your absolutely right because when it came to lev Abby was like a momma bear with her cub and she would’ve done the exact same thing as Joel if lev was in a situation like Ellie in the first game and he was the whole reason she even fought at the end because even malnourished,dehydrated,physically and mentally worked into the ground by the rattlers and strung up (for a day at least) to die under the California sun she still fought on par with a not perfect health Ellie (but still more healthy than her Ellie) and even managed to over power her and smack the knife away after forcing it out of her shoulder and managed to kick Ellie off of her but abby ran out of energy before Ellie did but the fact both were able to make it to there destinations after that fight is impressive with the injuries they both had sustained with Ellie (missing fingers,gash in her side,and probably concussed from the tree and and Abby’s fist) making it back to the farm and Abby(malnourished,dehydrated,and multiple cuts and the knife through the shoulder) making it to Catliana island. All in all im very happy both survived
Can we talk about how Jett's edditing has actual emotion in it? Like, even after recording it and knowing what happens he puts certain memes and what not in places to keep the mood he was likely in while recording that, instead of having stale editting and his memes foreshadowing the entire ending of the video. If he's happy in the start of the video, the editting in the start is actually gonna convey that. And if he's sad the editting actually shows that. (All through memes of course)
Damn Jett, you actually coming around and saying you want to play as Abby makes me feel hella proud for you. Having us stewing and guessing at what her motivation possibly could be, the mystery of joel's missing 20 years constantly in the back of the mind and the chill flashback mission were actually genius ways of slowly building up the suspense after throwing the player into the story so abruptly before. I went through the literally exact same process; from being disgusted at the prospect of having to play as her, to wanting to understand and wanting to know more. Its a tall mental hurdle to get over, especially because the players tends to identify themselves with the protagonists, so most people have not managed to view the story objectively til this very day which is the reason the split in the fandom has still not been mended. And here you are 3 episodes into Part 2 showing more insight and open-mindedness than people who have played TLoU since release. It'll be exciting to see you play this to the end, wonder which side of the fanbase you'll be on by the end...

In Minute 1:09:20 you see that Jessie is the one behind Ellie, but fun fact, in the earlier trailers of the game they just put Joel in there (to believe we have another adventure with them two). Everybody got pissed off when they saw this scene in the official game.
Yep. That was the only real problem I had with ND about this game. They took the red herring too far on that trailer. Go back and watch trailer reactions when it showed Joel. Everyone goes insane. I bet they thought, uh oh, we shouldn’t have done that. 😂
I do actually really like the very first trailers (the cinematic one where she sings) use of Joel. It was totally a red herring, but its like a vision in hindsight (her telling Joel's ghost "Im gonna find and Im gonna kill every last one of them")

I don't think it's a big deal, honestly--if you take all of the promo material into context. It very much was an intentional red herring. This is a bit of a read, but it takes a lot more words to break things down for people that don't seem to get it naturally. Using "it was Joel in the trailers" is often an argument in bad faith. Most people know what a red herring is: a widely used storytelling tool designed to mislead you by making you assume something before you have enough of the facts to know that the drawn conclusion is wrong. It's intentional sleight-of-hand. One of multiple instances throughout the promotional/pre-release material that uses the underlying themes of Joel being on Ellie's journey in spirit without ever explicitly claiming that he's there physically. The conversations she's having are metaphorical, not literal. It supports Ellie's state-of-mind following his death. Consider all of trailers we got. There's no scene in the game where she sits there playing the guitar while Joel sits over her shoulder asking what she plans to do. Even in the Joel/Jesse swap-out scene, the words uttered are, "You think I'd let you do this alone." That's intentionally vague. Joel never leaves her mind, never leaves her thoughts or her heart. Everything she does is in service to Joel and her own guilt. She carries Joel throughout the entire game, reliving positive memories and negative trauma the entire time. All of the teaser clips allowed you to form your own opinion, but being upset by this not being the case on release is just the viewer disappointing themselves via their own predictions, not any ND actually gave out. And the viewer doesn't have a leg to stand on to argue that it was a bait-and-switch when ALL of the pre-release scenes follow the same motif of metaphorical vs. literal messaging. Like I said, it's an argument in terribly bad faith. If you go back and look at all of the promo material, it supports Ellie's journey--only filtered through the lens of her own trauma, not reality.

"How can you possibly want to play this again?" I had to play this one three times. Once when I didn't know, a second one when my girlfriend wanted to see watch the game but didn't dare to play it, and a third one when my sister asked the same. I haven't had the guts to touch it again ever since.
Just so you know the infected on stage 1 (runners), the cordyceps hasn't taken full control over the people’s brains yet. That means they are still conscious inside of their bodies, and still somewhat human, without being in control of anything. The only thing they can do is moan and cry as if they were trying to fight the infection. By stage 3 (clickers), the infection has completely taken over, meaning the humanity is far gone. FUN FACT: The Clicker's Sound Is Used For Echolocation. They actually use their clicking to “see” their surroundings.

There’s not a single document, voice line or other piece of lore that confirms that people are still hanging on to their consciousness when they’re in the runner stage. It’s questioned a couple of times, most notably by Sam before he turns, but there never is outright confirmation of that. Neither for the made up fact that the runners are moaning and shrieking because they’re aware of their transformation and situation. So yeah, stop acting arrogant while aiding in spreading misinformation. I know my shit ;)
I really, really, really appreciate your nuanced view on Joel. We can love his character and also acknowledge that he was never, EVER meant to be a saint. We loved him in part BECAUSE he found personal redemption in taking care of Ellie. But that doesn't mean he was redeemed in the eyes of the countless people he crossed. Not gonna lie, as much as I know many people enjoy this game part of me always expects that people will hate on it and not let the game BREATHE. (I don't necessarily think anyone HAS to like this game, but 100% there are some people who hate on it solely because they have daddy issues with Joel or w/e). I'm really excited to see the next episode... as fun as the fights are in this section the best is yet to come!
And what's cool is, despite his past, he still got a lost of respect and was treated as close to a Saint as possible. At the end, with the last scene, they really put his decision in a respectable light. he'd do it all over again, despite the consequences, becaues he loved Ellie so much. That's beautiful way to frame his decision. It's the last of us, he paid for his decision to save ellie..but he'd do it all over again.

It's cool to see you picking up on the background storylines like the messages at the end of the museum. There is so much division and conflict in this game, between Joel and Ellie, Ellie and Abby, the WLF and another faction that comes up later, and a lot of the time there isn't any clear villain. I'm really enjoying you play through this game especially so long after launch because it's nice seeing a fresh player's perspective, especially one who hasn't been influenced by what others have been saying prior to playing. Really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next episode, oh and those headshots were out of control this episode WTH

Damn Jett, you actually coming around and saying you want to play as Abby makes me feel hella proud for you. Having us stewing and guessing at what her motivation possibly could be, the mystery of joel's missing 20 years constantly in the back of the mind and the chill flashback mission were actually genius ways of slowly building up the suspense after throwing the player into the story so abruptly before. I went through the literally exact same process; from being disgusted at the prospect of having to play as her, to wanting to understand and wanting to know more. Its a tall mental hurdle to get over, especially because the players tends to identify themselves with the protagonists, so most people have not managed to view the story objectively til this very day which is the reason the split in the fandom has still not been mended. And here you are 3 episodes into Part 2 showing more insight and open-mindedness than people who have played TLoU since release. It'll be exciting to see you play this to the end, wonder which side of the fanbase you'll be on by the end...

In Minute 1:09:20 you see that Jessie is the one behind Ellie, but fun fact, in the earlier trailers of the game they just put Joel in there (to believe we have another adventure with them two). Everybody got pissed off when they saw this scene in the official game.
Yep. That was the only real problem I had with ND about this game. They took the red herring too far on that trailer. Go back and watch trailer reactions when it showed Joel. Everyone goes insane. I bet they thought, uh oh, we shouldn’t have done that. 😂
I do actually really like the very first trailers (the cinematic one where she sings) use of Joel. It was totally a red herring, but its like a vision in hindsight (her telling Joel's ghost "Im gonna find and Im gonna kill every last one of them")

The false advertisement is unforgivable imo. I won’t buy another full priced game from them because of it.
I don't think it's a big deal, honestly--if you take all of the promo material into context. It very much was an intentional red herring. This is a bit of a read, but it takes a lot more words to break things down for people that don't seem to get it naturally.
Using "it was Joel in the trailers" is often an argument in bad faith. Most people know what a red herring is: a widely used storytelling tool designed to mislead you by making you assume something before you have enough of the facts to know that the drawn conclusion is wrong. It's intentional sleight-of-hand. One of multiple instances throughout the promotional/pre-release material that uses the underlying themes of Joel being on Ellie's journey in spirit without ever explicitly claiming that he's there physically.
The conversations she's having are metaphorical, not literal. It supports Ellie's state-of-mind following his death. Consider all of trailers we got. There's no scene in the game where she sits there playing the guitar while Joel sits over her shoulder asking what she plans to do. Even in the Joel/Jesse swap-out scene, the words uttered are, "You think I'd let you do this alone." That's intentionally vague. Joel never leaves her mind, never leaves her thoughts or her heart. Everything she does is in service to Joel and her own guilt. She carries Joel throughout the entire game, reliving positive memories and negative trauma the entire time. All of the teaser clips allowed you to form your own opinion, but being upset by this not being the case on release is just the viewer disappointing themselves via their own predictions, not any ND actually gave out. And the viewer doesn't have a leg to stand on to argue that it was a bait-and-switch when ALL of the pre-release scenes follow the same motif of metaphorical vs. literal messaging. Like I said, it's an argument in terribly bad faith.
If you go back and look at all of the promo material, it supports Ellie's journey--only filtered through the lens of her own trauma, not reality.

Just so you know the infected on stage 1 (runners), the cordyceps hasn't taken full control over the people’s brains yet. That means they are still conscious inside of their bodies, and still somewhat human, without being in control of anything. The only thing they can do is moan and cry as if they were trying to fight the infection. By stage 3 (clickers), the infection has completely taken over, meaning the humanity is far gone. FUN FACT: The Clicker's Sound Is Used For Echolocation. They actually use their clicking to “see” their surroundings.

It’s questioned a couple of times, most notably by Sam before he turns, but there never is outright confirmation of that.
Neither for the made up fact that the runners are moaning and shrieking because they’re aware of their transformation and situation.

I really, really, really appreciate your nuanced view on Joel. We can love his character and also acknowledge that he was never, EVER meant to be a saint. We loved him in part BECAUSE he found personal redemption in taking care of Ellie. But that doesn't mean he was redeemed in the eyes of the countless people he crossed.
Not gonna lie, as much as I know many people enjoy this game part of me always expects that people will hate on it and not let the game BREATHE. (I don't necessarily think anyone HAS to like this game, but 100% there are some people who hate on it solely because they have daddy issues with Joel or w/e). I'm really excited to see the next episode... as fun as the fights are in this section the best is yet to come!
And what's cool is, despite his past, he still got a lost of respect and was treated as close to a Saint as possible. At the end, with the last scene, they really put his decision in a respectable light. he'd do it all over again, despite the consequences, becaues he loved Ellie so much. That's beautiful way to frame his decision. It's the last of us, he paid for his decision to save ellie..but he'd do it all over again.

It's cool to see you picking up on the background storylines like the messages at the end of the museum. There is so much division and conflict in this game, between Joel and Ellie, Ellie and Abby, the WLF and another faction that comes up later, and a lot of the time there isn't any clear villain. I'm really enjoying you play through this game especially so long after launch because it's nice seeing a fresh player's perspective, especially one who hasn't been influenced by what others have been saying prior to playing.
Really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next episode, oh and those headshots were out of control this episode WTH
