Virtual Riot that type of sound designer that is like "I want this to sound like a dying elephant ordering Chinese food" and he'll make it in 10 seconds.
5:50 modulating the drive amount of the distortion module to emulate corpus' artifacts is genius! your sound design ideas are really ahead of many other producers i've seen
The thing that I love about phaseplant is that for me it really is the everything synth- I almost never use new synths unless there's something really specific I want it to do (like object modeling or modular or everything you can do in Max). It's got almost every kind of synthesis you could need, wavetable, additive, subtractive, fm, sample based, granular, etc etc. There's very little I feel like I want afterwards and it's helped me escape the new plugin rabbit hole. I especially recommend the complete bundle which comes with its own effects suite and multipass and snapheap, which are both amazing in their own right.
Fantastic stuff!! Just a little extra bonus, in #14 you used the note to mod the semi in negative to turn off keytracking. Setting the "harmonic" to 0 should achieve the same thing, but then the shift becomes the root note (so also set that to the frequency of the note you're using), so you can adjust the speed/pitch thereafter in realtime :)
This video makes me be aware PhasePlant is going to be the next 10 years go to advanced synth. remember when you saw Val's complete Serum tutorial 10 years ago ? i think this video is the sign. (also a skrillex story whit all phaseplant freezed and flattend tracks)
Bro every time I click on one of your videos my mind is blown by how quickly and concisely are able to explain how and why you are doing different things. Thanks so much for all your music man you are a true artist
Using velocity to control LFO rate is one of the coolest simple workflow ideas I've heard. So much easier than using automation clips, audio editing, or duplicating basses. Thanks!
The noise being highpassed on the noisy lead for a cleaner drive modulation is so genius. That's been bugging me forever in other synths. Also did not know that a saw/noise bass was called a poopsaw
Hello Christian, it's great job for your songs, is better creative mixes of yoinks, kicks, snares, and you'll powerful OTT, congratulations for great job. 16:01 - 11. Optimus Prime FX I love for sound from Transformers 😍😍😍 I I'm you're fan, My lord ❤🤗🤗
Hey VR!! There are some bass sounds that I've heard throughout EDM history that are classic, almost historical sounds for the genre that I struggle to create to sound authentic to what I have in my head and what I hear in my influence's music. You might already have something like this on your patreon, which I cannot afford right now but someday will be a part of, but a video detailing how some of the classic sounds in dubstep and riddim were created. Thanks!!
Sure can, that's kinda the ethos around Kilohearts stuff, you modulate just about everything with everything else. The only limits are your creativity and your CPU.
Dude thank you so much for this video and all the other ones. Would you mind doing a video or maybe just chatting (here) about how you were able to develop your synth programing skills and your general thought when designing/experimenting? Like do you have a sound in your head in mind or are you more like today I'm going to use saw waves and then just test random things on it? I experiment when synth programing but the way you do it seems much more intentional. How did you get to that point? Do you do random things and when one works analyst it? I over thing everything haha. Sorry if this is an odd question. I think I might have answered this question for myself after posting this. Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, learn the basic bass patches for the various bases that exist already. ChatGPT was a great resource for me. Then add your own flavor to those basics and mix some of them together, i.e.. FM technique with Reese bass layer and noise layer techniques. When I started doing this, I immediately noticed things I was doing in the patch were purposeful instead of random. This dramaticly improved and speed up patch making for me.
6:15 this is aliasing distortion from the saturator, which is reflected down and brought up by ott. :D kinda funny, as usually people try to avoid that at all costs
Bro, this is legendary! How do I keep up with this? What is your basic framework for tackling something like this? How do you think, how do you organize yourself? It seems like you're a master at challenging yourself in a fun way! Can you teach us how to do what you're doing? I really want to pick your brain and extract your life design blueprint!
i need phase plant , like badly. it seems to be the best for sound design. i know someone using for games and he's showed me things it can do that Serum and Vital can not do
such a great vid. i love all of your ideas, they are great inspiration. may i ask, if you use Pigments at all? i would love to see a vid like this of you messing around in pigments.
I’ll add them to the “100 Phaseplant Presets” pack in the shop later today and keep the price the same. If you’re a supporter you can just download it for free again and I think if you’re not but you’ve bought it before it should still be downloadable in the new version (I think 🤔)
@@VirtualRiot You are the man Val! I've bought the pack already and it's still available for download. Let's see if the archive will be updated. Many thanks and keep'em Phase Plant videos coming!

Words can't express how much I love you, dude.
Bro I just bought PhasePlant a few days ago, binge watched you walkthrough and was wondering when the patch video will come out. Perfect sync!
Ahh, dear Lord, I thought I might have escaped the perpetual new plugin hell for a while, but here I am again.
The thing that I love about phaseplant is that for me it really is the everything synth- I almost never use new synths unless there's something really specific I want it to do (like object modeling or modular or everything you can do in Max). The granular pad sounds amazing

Nothing better to get the creative juices flowing than watch eliminates bestie

Thank you for giving phase plant some attention that it deserves. It's always been my favorite

🔥 Very cool tonez
Goated! Thanks dude
6:39 I don't have phaseplant (hopefully in 2025) but I want to see if you can modulate the LFO speed so the sort of pulses go faster or even slower
You can modulate the lfo rate with another lfo which is pretty dope🙌
Sure can, that's kinda the ethos around Kilohearts stuff, you modulate just about everything with everything else. The only limits are your creativity and your CPU.
again… I’ve learned so much new stuff. Now I can finally go to bed :)
