  • I'm the guy in the red shorts. I've been training for only 1 year with no other prior martial arts experience.
My first muay thai smoker or "school fight", I train at The Wat NYC under Ajarn Phil Nurse. I was fighting one of my teammates, Marcos, for 3 - 2 minutes - rounds, with 30 second breaks inbetween.
I know I have a lot to work on since this fight and during sparring session im never like this but i don't really know what got into me or why I just acted like a tank and decided to eat his punches...
Any and all criticism gladly welcome!

Youre right, hip throws arent legal. But what i was actually doing was tripping him and kinda did a judo throw which again, BOTH arent legal...I didnt know that at the time and was told afterwards by my coach (the ref) but I knew that my teammate/opponent wasnt good at clinch since i never saw him in our clinch classes. I had terrible tunnel vision and I dont perform well infront of crowds.

Nice job! It's cool that Phil Nurse was reffing. You train at The Wat?

@damianknight7414 thank you! Yea Arjan Phil was reffing. I used to train at The Wat before covid. The gym is no longer atm but he does hold classes one some weekday nights and i believe saturday afternoons. I've heard some word on the streets that hopefully he'll have his gym back up.
