Now Mitchell Evans I would add another father and that was the late Pastor Timothy Wright. Most people today do not remember him as an organist. But when I got saved in 1978 Pastor Wright and Professor Heyward were the best organists at the time out of Brooklyn! Brooklyn has been blessed with such a rich heritage of talented artists some well known and others known locally. But it does make my heart glad to see Professor Heyward is still holding it down in musical praise unto the Lord!
The LEGEND, Professor Butch Heyward, and The Late GREAT Bishop Carl Williams Jr, Known affectionately as The Hitmakers were THE CREATORS of The Brooklyn Gospel Sound, whose Birthplace was Institutional COGIC International (Bishop Carl E Williams Sr. ) , and That Sound was lovingly maintained at Washington Temple COGIC, Organist Pastor Timothy Wright And The Greater Bibleway Temple, Organist Bishop Michael Rogers during The 70's and The 80's (of Course there were other church that had PHENOMINAL Music Ministries, The Churches that I mentioned were churches I Personally attended. I Received The Baptism of The Holy Ghost at The Greater Bibleway Temple, 261 Rochester Avenue in Brooklyn New York 11213 ) Hallelujah!!!!!!!!
Hearing Professor Butch Heyward play takes me back in time to those services we had at 170. I was Blessed so much.he is so Anointed so much by the Holy Ghost.
Ricky Richardson Brooklyn stand up and take a bow! Out church was in Brooklyn also...I blv the name of the road was N. Van Buren Street, Brooklyn “The Late Bishop Mattie Fuller”
Audric Williams NYC always has the fire musicians! My family use to go to NYC back in the 70s and 80s for church and revivals the music and musicians was untouchable! I miss it so much
OMG, hearing this type of playing just inspires corporate worship. The feel, the timekeeping, and Butch still gives space to the vocalists...impeccable.
Whoever put those dislikes up here you probably cant play anyway. And Mr Professor Butch Heyward is The Godfather of the Brooklyn Sound. Play on Mr. Heyward .
The song is called (stay in the race) written by butch heyward the gospel expositions of ny use to sing this in the 80s. they were a group of young singers butch put together in the 70s most of them were members of institutional cogic in brooklyn. I believe they were going to record this song on there 2nd album but they never recorded the 2nd album.
