When I was growing up, in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, sometimes men in drag were on the tv, but they didn't do anything lewd.
There was Milton Berle, whose drag was hilarious and innocent. I saw him dress in drag on his tv show when I was a preschooler.
Then there were female impersonators who performed as Bette Davis, Barbra Streisand, Tallulah Bankhead, Judy Garland, etc. It was all suitable for children. And it was humorously glamorous rather than seedy.
Drag, that is men dressing up to perform as women, can be clean, funny, fascinating, and harmless. Even classy.
But the performers I've been seeing that perform for family audiences today are none of that. They're pure trash. Maybe there are some who aren't, but those aren't the ones that get shared for the outrage of decent people.
