Hi Roanne. This is Aunt Darlene. I wanted to share that I experienced this cultural trait at my neighbor's birthday celebration. There was so much kindness shown to me, although I am of a different culture. Thanks for this message!
would love to! In fact, I've written about it. Check out the 5 Pinoy Love Languages Ebook but a video soon. www.kalamansijuice.com/5-pinoy-love-languages-ebook
In the U.S., we have a phrase, "Go along to get along." From your discussion, Pakikisama is much more than an individual trying to fit into a group for themselves. Pakikisama includes helping others fit into the group's norms and standards. Very inclusive! This could be one reason why Filipinos are so accepting of foreigners wanting to marry into Filipino society.
So I suppose another 'shadow' side of the collectivistic culture would explain the Crab Mentality. Your vids are so insightful. Peace and Love, B Goat
