My FIRST wild camp ABROAD - Norway

- My first ever visit to Norway and my first ever wildcamp abroad.
I flew out to Stavanger and hopped onto a bus out to the Lysefjord.
Attempting to avoid the crowds of Preikestolen and Kjerag, I decided to plot what looked like a path less well trodden.
The route was tough with almost every step requiring attention due to the bog and many trip hazards and wet rock but it was so worth it! I eventually found somewhere to put the tent just below the summit of Hatton, but that was a task in itself.
Following day, I hiked down to the infinity pool (FantaPytten) which was the perfect place for a pit stop.
Log cabins in the wood, lakes, pristine woodland, fjords…..and the Northern Lights! It was about as Scandinavian as you could get. I’m well and truly hooked!
Route is here.

love your aproach to Norwegian nature and your genuine interest in experience nature and pure living in its real form. i am a norwegian military veteran, with the same mindset as You. this is fabouless, and just the same as me myselves and I do everyday every summer. nature is king, and living syncted to nature is living life as it should be lived.........
Thank you. I love this comment!
Such a beautiful area! Last summer I hiked and wild camped on south side of the valley, towards Lysebotn. I also struggled to find a dry, flat spot. Thankfully I managed to find a beautiful area. I woke up to a group of sheep that were really friendly and stayed with me whilst I was drinking my cup of coffee
I didn’t film it but I also camped at Lyseboten at the side of a huge waterfall, stunning place!
You CAN actually camp on someones property, thats the whole point of the ‘Right to Roam’ act. Just not on cultivated land or closer than 200m to a building.
Amazing scenery Dave what a beautiful place
It really is! Happy birthday mate.
Fair enough. I’d never encourage camping on someone’s property though, just makes life easier 😊
Thanks for sharing ,what a beautiful place on earth you are in now ❣️
It’s stunning. I need to go back! Thanks for watching.
Looked awesome that matey. Well done 👍
It was great fun. Will definitely go back again but further north. A freestanding tent would be handy though.
Great video mate. When I was watching it I was thinking that you could get some amazing “stills” from your video.
Laughed out loud at your water source dilemma for your meal.
Nice work pal 👍🤣
Haha, I’d rather have snorted that dehydrated meal than use the water from that!
You kept that one bloody quiet, looked absolutely stunning mate
It was spectacular. I went on a ferry right through the fjord and even that stunning. Wish I could have spent more time there and got a couple more camps in!
Some scenes in Norway man, like a scene from Star Wars. Great vid Dave mate.
Haha, was ready for them Ewoks pal in that little hut 😂
Thanks for watching, good to see channel going well mate.
The battle on planet Hoth was actually filmed in Norway.
Looks like you had a great time. 🙂👍 Dont quite recognize the area from the map. Only been to Preikestolen in Lysefjorden
I tried to avoid Preikestolen as I just thought it would be too busy. I’ll put a link in the description in case you’re interest in the route.
@@boolay75 Yes its normally busy so great choice. Yes thanks 👍
19:30 kinda looks like a fake movie scene. Nice!
Ha! Yeah I see what you mean!
I would be too scared of bumping into a Grizzly..
Don’t think there are any mate so no danger!
@@boolay75 A total of 150 brown bears were recorded in Norway in 2020, 65 females and 85 males. The majority were recorded along the border and presumably spend some of their lives in our neighbouring countries.

@@1-0-v6d Those aren't grizzly and are incredible rare.
