- Stricture Urethra is a narrowing of the urethra or urinary passage. It leads to poor flow and reduction in urinary stream at times with great difficulty in passing urine. The treatment options include Endoscopic treatment and Internal Urethrotomy or OIU ( Optical Internal Urethrotomy). Endoscopic treatment is successful only in 20 to 30% of the patients.
For a more permanent cure Urethroplasty may be indicated. Urethroplasty is successful in 85 to 90% of patients. It can be done with buccal mucosa (or inner lining of cheek) graft or other substitutes such as skin. Urethroplasty can be tailored to the length and type of urethral stricture. Although catheter indwelling time is about 21 to 28 days patient is able to accept semisolids the same day and can walk around the next day. This video describes patient journey of a patient who underwent BMG Urethroplasty.

I had pan urethral stricture. Last month I had operation called BMG Urethroplasty (Kulkarni technique) as doctor said. Two weeks before the catheter was removed. But still the whole urethra is feeling hard. Is it normal??? and how many days will it take to become normal??

Brother surgery is not a permanent treatment because the natural connection of your urine tube is disconnected through laser and you know that laser burn cut is not rejoined and another illegal way to take buccal mucosa and covered with both side this is artificial connection not natural connection the stricture should be short but the tube of urine is also short another problem and the dilation is also will continue if one suggestion onmy side use goat or sheep buccal mucosa for joining and without cutting whole stricture tube only minor cut of upper side of urine tube and place goat, sheep urine tube transplantation and covered with buccal mucosa of goat sheep with use of stem cell of human please forward more and more this message for implantation this is not many harmful
