Installed on 26ft aluminum custom built boat. Replaces 2004 Yamaha F225 V6 4stroke outboard. Performance is mind-boggling compared to old motor.

Cost: about $25k cdn - it was a boat show special and coast guard "return" unused.
Top speed is based on many factors, this is like a square shoebox for aerodynamics. It's also 5000lbs (still light for what it is) vs a bass boat at 2500lbs. Aside from the size/weight of the boat prop pitch is the next big factor. You want a top speed full throttle 500rpm or so below redline, then it's pitched correctly. However, if you carry a lot of load/people then that prop will have too much pitch and will bog down low or not come out of the hole. But generally with this boat/motor combo the HP will overcome that.
Jackplate is from bob's machine shop and works really well. Only jack plate rated for this big a motor.
Yep, they have a flywheel issue, I thought it was 400hrs not 300hrs to replace. It's a dual-mass flywheel and when they fail it's engine failure. Dealer replaces for free. The 2000 VW Beetle 1.8T my wife had, had a dual-mass flywheel, switched to ECS tuning's single mass and uprated clutch - way cheaper and noticed no difference on idle smoothness.
YES, this is Howe Sound area. :-)
This boat is currently out of the water for hull repairs as well as interior refit. After that's it's sold. Already have a 29ft custom built by Walker boats in Coombs, on Vancouver Island, BC. Bruce Cope hull design, twin Yamaha 300's.
This boat was sold a long time ago. The F350 yamaha died of a cracked block due to salt crystals buildup in the coolant passages. Just a bad design. Earlier F225's had rotted out exhausts from corrosion. Be careful buying a used motor. Every outboard brand has problems.

this is nice man, my yamaha V6 VX 250 running on a small speeboat. But this huge boat and the F350 are good friends, diam! Good combo. Thanks for the recording,

Yep, for similar strength hull the aluminum is lighter. Sometimes having the extra weight (if you have the power) is nice for cutting through rough seas.

No worries. There are some other options such as the ironwood aluminum boats out of New Westminster, cut the water really nice (good sharp pointy bow) and to be honest with their paint coating they look like fiberglass. Check it out. VERY pricey though. You can also glue products like dynamat or brown bread (sound dampeners) to the hull insides above the bilge to cut noise. Happy boating.

I love yamaha. I have an R1 at moment and had many other motorbike brands in my 40yr but my yamahas never need more than maintained, they simply don't let you down. I'm on a JonnyRude 15hp here in UK on my 14ft Mayland fisher but plan on strengthening transom and spend all my overtime for the year on a big yam 🤙

How many knots will this motor push this boat up to?

Sorry guys, I gotta reload this video. After loading it to youtube it said "video is shaky would you like us to fix it?" so I said "yes". Apparently that doesn't work well especially with text on the screen and a boat that's moving all around. Funny how youtube's video processor keeps the horizon totally still and the boat is going all over the place. I'll upload a new version tonight. That camera was actually fixed to the roof and in real video moves around with the boat.

I never understood a marine engine break in period. If I bought a new chev truck with a 5.3 v8 the dealer doesn't ask how you broke it in if it breaks and comes in for warranty work

You are probably correct, it guess it's our choice of prop. Could get a bit more top speed with a hair less pitch.
